"Sorry, Uzi, I just...really had to go somewhere to think." That sounds even more pathetic, but was the truth. Which could be considered more pathetic.
Uzi's frustration fizzled away a bit, seeing the fragile state N was in. That her boyfriend was in. She just didn't understand how he got like this.
She thought if N made amends with her mom everything would finally be perfect, but he seemed to be more anxious then before.
Unless...
"N, did my mom happen to threaten you or something?"
N turned to her with a surprised look, "W-what?"
"That talk with her," Uzi clarified, "You've been acting up a lot since then, did my mom threaten you? Because if she did I swear-"
Uzi angrily clenched her fists at the thought, but N quickly shook his head. "No! It's nothing like that..." he turned away, unable to look Uzi in the eyes, like he's been doing for weeks, and Uzi was starting to reach her limit with that.
"So, what's it about then?" It hurt to see N flinch at her words, it felt like kicking a puppy.
But they can't keep going on like this, she has to get him to tell her what's going on, even if she has to pressure N into it.
Uzi walked up and sat on the armrest of the chair. She took notice of shrinking back a bit, further proving her point something was wrong. "You know you can tell me anything, don't you trust me?"
N still didn't look up at her, but she could see the conflicted look on his face. He wanted to tell her, he just couldn't bring himself to do it.
He needed a nudge, a hard nudge, one that would be painful for both of them, but could be the last way to finally get the truth of N's shoulders.
Uzi stood up abruptly, startling N, his core began to pick up speed as the atmosphere began to feel tense. Uzi had turned away from N so he couldn't see her expression. N swallowed the nervous lump in his throat, "U-Uzi?"
Finally, she turned back to him, with a solemn look. "I'm sorry, N," said drone suddenly felt cold, icy dread at her tone, knowing that what she's going to say next will break him. "But if you can't trust me, then maybe we shouldn't be together anymore..."
Everything around N went quiet, his vision blurred slightly. This suddenly didn't feel real, like it was all just a bad dream, a horrible nightmare.
N's worst nightmare made into reality.
He was about to lose Uzi, the one he loved most.
He began to panic.
"Wait, Uzi, please!" N pleaded as he tried to reach out for her.
But the goth drone moved away from his grasp, purposefully not making eye contact, not able to bear the hurt look in N's eyes.
He was the first drone to really care about her, to check in to see if she was ok, and pull her into a warm embrace as she vented all her angsty problems.
Now she was hurting him, her sweet lovable N. But she already poured the salt in the wound, there was no turning back now. She just hoped she wasn't making the biggest mistake of her life.
"Whatever you're hiding N, is slowly tearing us apart." Uzi slowly began, feeling vile build up in her throat as she continued, "So if we can't trust each other with our problems, then maybe we weren't meant to be..."
There was a long pause, and for a second, Uzi thought N had bolted off without her even realizing. But then there was a small hiccup. It was quiet, barely noticeable, but it was loud enough to shatter the wall around Uzi's heart.
