While flying, N realized that he was heading in it's direction without even thinking. He soon landed on the top step, in front of the double doors, one of them being torn right off and laying on the concrete in front of him. N looked up, and the ice covered, sign hanging above him read Copper 9 Library.
When first reading it, N thought they could've come up with something more creative, then realized when your trying to build a whole society on a new planet far away from home, you have more important things to worry about then coming up with a creative, library name.
It was darker on the inside, the only source of light coming from the broken windows. Chairs at tables were tipped over, some with their legs broken off. Books were scattered everywhere, many with ripped pages and covers, probably to the point they were unreadable. It was almost completely quiet, the only sound coming from the cold wind outside.
Though even with the apocalyptic look of the library, it felt like the safest place on Copper 9.
N would usually come here after a hunt, or...being yelled at by J. The quiet atmosphere being able to quite down the screams of worker drones, and the stern voice of his leader echoing in his head.
N scanned the shelves to see if anything would catch his eyes. He eventually gave up, when most of the books looked too complicated to read or too damaged from the core collapse.
So instead, N headed to the lounge area. He sat down in one of the comfy chairs, that was still in decent shape. The cushions sank under his weight as he slumped back and let out a sigh.
He was an absolute mess.
And he didn't know how to fix it. Where does he even start?
Maybe J was right about him. He was useless and terrible, he didn't even know how to keep a secret.
Did he even really deserve Uzi at this point? He's been treating her like some sort of ravage dog he was trying to tame. The thought hurt, but maybe she deserved better.
A world without Uzi was soul-crushing. But he knew he was hurting her, with all she's been through she doesn't deserve a bad boyfriend as well.
But could he really just go up to her and tell her they shouldn't be a thing anymore-especially without a good reason?
No, the pain of being separated by Uzi would be to much to bare. He loved her so much, he shouldn't give up so easily.
He just needed to try harder, he'd do anything for Uzi. Like get better at keeping secrets, even though deep down, he know he wouldn't. He'll eventually crack under the pressure, and ruin everything, like he usually does.
The sound of footsteps broke through N's thoughts and immediately went rigid.
Who would be here at a time like this, especially so far from the colony?
He had only one guess.
"N?"
Yep, he could recognize that quiet, yet angsty voice anywhere.
N opened his eyes and in front of him stood the solver host herself, in all her angsty glory that he fell in love with.
Her yellow-to-purple optics bore into N with frustration, but also with a bit of concern. "What are you doing out here? I woke up and you were just...gone."
There was the oh-so familiar tightness in N's chest as guilt crawled its way back up. Great, just to add more full to the fire, he made Uzi worried for him, was there anything he could do right?
