Wonwoo had worked at the company for years, blending seamlessly into the background. He wasn’t disliked, nor was he particularly ignored—he was simply there. He did his job efficiently, submitted his work on time, and avoided unnecessary conversations.

People knew of him but didn’t know him. And that was fine.

He didn’t mind spending his lunch break alone, quietly eating in the corner while reading articles on his phone. He didn’t care if people forgot to invite him for after-work drinks. He found comfort in solitude, in his routine of work, home, and late-night gaming sessions.

That was, until his name was called for a special project team.

The project was big—one that the company had been preparing for months. Five employees from different departments were chosen to work together, blending their expertise.

Wonwoo wasn’t exactly thrilled about it, but he accepted his role without protest. It was just work, after all.

That was when he found himself sitting in a meeting room with his new teammates—including Kim Mingyu.

Mingyu was… loud. Cheerful, well-liked, always in the center of attention. If Wonwoo was the guy who faded into the background, Mingyu was the one who lit up the entire room.

At first, Mingyu didn’t think much about Wonwoo. They worked in the same company, but their paths had never crossed. However, as the meetings progressed, he started noticing him.

It wasn’t immediate, but small things stood out.

How Wonwoo always pushed his glasses up with his knuckle when they slid down his nose. How he tapped his pen absentmindedly when thinking. How he never spoke unless absolutely necessary, but when he did, his words were precise and insightful.

Mingyu, out of curiosity, started observing Wonwoo more.

And for some reason, he liked what he saw.

After awhile, Mingyu began finding excuses to interact with Wonwoo.

“Hey, Wonwoo, let’s grab lunch together.” Wonwoo hesitated but eventually agreed.

“Want me to walk with you to the station?” Wonwoo blinked but nodded.

“Let’s take a break. Come on, just ten minutes.” Wonwoo sighed but followed him.

At first, Wonwoo didn’t understand why Mingyu was suddenly so… interested in him. Was it pity? Curiosity? A prank?

But over time, he realized that Mingyu was just naturally like that. Warm. Persistent. Someone who pulled people in.

And somehow, Mingyu pulled him in too.

One evening, they worked late at the office. Mingyu, being his usual easygoing self, suggested, “Let’s continue at your place. It’s closer than mine.”

Wonwoo hesitated. He had never let a coworker into his personal space before.

But for some reason, he agreed.

Mingyu made himself at home the moment they arrived.

He sprawled on the couch, flipping through their project notes while eating takeout. Meanwhile, Wonwoo, still in his work attire, sat on the floor, cross-legged, typing away.

That was the first time Mingyu saw Wonwoo at home.

Glasses still on, hair slightly messier than at work. The way his sleeves were rolled up, exposing his forearms. How he absentmindedly sipped on a can of coffee, his lips barely parting.
