"Hey!" The man snapped. "I fell into a new realm of understanding."
"Good for you," she replied with a small grin. "I feel the same way now that I've started therapy."
Doc Seismic rolled his eyes. Gestured to the monument below them. "Do you know what this obscene phallus is constructed from? He asked, expecting some idiotic answer."
Mark frowned. "Uh..."
"Granite stolen from the Earth. Iron ripped from her loins. Bricks made of the clay she bleeds from humanity's endless ruinations."
"Question," Loren intercepted, raising her hand. "Isn't that most buildings? Also, aren't your gloves partly made of metal? That comes from the Earth."
The man stared at her blankly. "That's beside the point," he grumbled. "You can keep the buildings made of wood."
"That's also Earth, though." She grinned. "Technically speaking, of course."
"Everything else, we're taking back."
With a roll of her eyes, she glanced over her shoulder at Mark. "I can't believe you made me come with you."
"You said you were bored!"
"And I'm still bored!"
With a clap of Doc Seismic's hands, a rush of power pushed toward them. While Mark was knocked back, his body rolling through the air, Loren absorbed it. Crossing her arms across her chest, she braced, feeling the energy from his gloves slam into her. She used that momentum, then, as she landed on the ground, softening her landing.
"Go!" She told the onlookers, helping several of them to their feet. "Go, get away from this area!"
It was sudden, yet not surprising, as the man slammed into the tip of the tower, cracking the entire foundation. The effects rippled into the earth, splintering the ground in its wake.
She jumped back, narrowly avoiding the rippling earth. Her eyes widened, then, at the sight of lava spewing from the cracks, bringing molten creatures with it.
"I made a few new friends during my time underground." Doc Seismic grins. "Meet my Magmanites."
They were upon them immediately. It took nothing more than a rush of lava for more to appear, the creatures corralling around Mark and Loren individually.
She ducked, avoiding the flailing arms of one of the creatures, sweeping her right arm low. It cut through the legs of the creature, breaking it in two. Clasping her hands on either side of its head, she pressed. Drawing her hands closer together. Crushing its head between her hands, feeling the heat as it rushed across her body. She cared not for the lava dripping across her hands, only shaking it from her skin.
Glowering, she tipped her gaze to the top of the tower as the man smashed into it once more. It sank lower into the earth, the foundation beneath it crumbling, cracking. From it came only lava. It poured from the cracks, flooding the surrounding ground in a river of heat.
No matter how close they attempted to get, Doc Seismic forced them away with a clap of his hands. With every attempt, the hits almost seemed to be more powerful.
With a shout, Loren gained Mark's attention. "I keep his attention, you go from below?"
He tipped his head between his shoulders with a shrug. "Sure, why not?"
Within a moment, the job was done. With Doc Seismic laying at her feet, unconscious, Loren sighed.
"We're going to be late," came Mark's voice from behind her.
