chapter 4

[act one; chapter four     -     monitoring you]

    "I've missed you, you know?"

    She laid back on her bed, upside down. Tipping her head back, she looked at the boy sitting across from her. Logan. Dark brown hair, vibrant blue eyes.

    She smiled. "Yeah, I know. Your phone calls told me enough."

    He pushed onto his feet, standing over her for a moment. With another breath, he sat on the floor at the foot of her bed, lifting a hand to brush through her hair. "Why'd you break up with me again?"

    She shrugged and bit her lip. "I guess...well, I don't really know. I just felt like I needed space."

    "From me? Or the whole, being in a relationship thing?"

    "Definitely not from you," she murmured. She lifted her arms, still upside down, and linked her hands behind his neck. "I think I thought that you needed someone who was more present. And because I thought I couldn't be that, I put so much space between us."

    He leaned down, brushing his lips to her forehead. "I understand your superhero life, Ren. You know that. We started dating when we were 15 and 16, I've been around for all of that." He pulled back, looking down at her with those electric blue eyes. "You're everything I need, okay? I'll tell you if anything ever changes, you know that."

    She nods. Pulls away and flips onto her stomach, bracing her elbows on the edge of the mattress. "So," she hummed, eyes flickering across his face. "Take two?"

    Logan laughed, his head falling back with a wide smile. When he lowered his gaze to find hers, he leaned in. Murmured, "Take two."

    He pushed his lips to hers, reaching his hands up to cup her neck. He smiled against her lips, pushing up off of his knees as she twisted to a sitting position.

    She tugged away from him, a blush rising to her cheeks. "I'm sorry for breaking up with you because I got scared."

    "I forgive you," he grinned. Pressed a kiss to her forehead. "I'm sorry for making you feel like you weren't enough."
