"I do not have self-control
I am startin' to wonder
is this my free will or yours?
(yours, yours, yours)
I'm your puppet, you control me
I'm your puppet, I don't know me
(did I wait too long?) I'm your puppet
(did I wait too long?) you control me"
LOREN MASON
was like a brown bear. She was feared and hunted, strong and fortified. She was the image of a beast, the very thing in stories. But beneath it all, really, she was a girl. She was tantalized by the role of being a woman in this world crafted so carefully for the heart beat of man. More than anything, however, she was victimized by birth. By how she had come into this world, made and put together by two things that should never have touched. She was crafted from the unthinkable, sewn together by the thousands of lives who had come together to make her. To craft her so delicately into a soldier. A weapon of mass destruction and horrifying humanity.
She has been, in some way, made to die. To conquer the living world of humankind and destroy them. She would eat them raw and spit them out, tearing herself apart in the process. Ripping a hole clear through her gut and leaving her to bleed out. A slow, punishing death. Punishment for living. For merely existing.
An abomination.
Her mother was Viltrumite. Her father was something different. Not quite human. A dead species, wiped out by those like her mother. He had a power, an ability, passed down through the blood in their veins; the blood that he had offered to spill when he stood beside the Guardians of the Globe. Blood that settled so heavily in Loren. Her veins thrummed with power at every waking moment, as if it were a second heartbeat in her chest. The power of life, of pure existence. Knowledge had always been a burden to those who sought it, but Loren had been with it engraved in her being. With the knowledge of a destroyed species and the burdened guilt of destroyers. She was alive with unimaginable strength and the ability to control energy. Energy of any kind. She could reach through a soul and grasp it, using the innate energy of existence to her every will.
