Ch. 5 TW

My tears wouldn't stop, Cotton's grip on my body had begun to hurt, her strong arms and legs pushed her along as they all ran to the hideout.

Once we had finally reached the hideout, Ember slammed him foot on the door on the floor to get it open, it was a ladder going down underground, Ember's idea of course, but we all jumped down. Cotton allowing her body to take the fall impact for both of us, Star lands on her feet and Ember only does because he used his tail.

Everyone was afraid and out of breath, Cotton let me go, red marks from her gloves clearly across my arms and legs. My eyes bloodshot red, my rainbow dress covered in filth. 

"Alright, Ember, run some tests, Cotton, watch Y/N and I'll help Ember on the other side run a few tests." Star's voice was firm, and her eyes were full of confidence.

My ears stay flat against my head, everyone nods in agreement as Cotton comes to sit down with her, her ears perky and her fur fluffed up from the wind. Stars' quills stood up slightly and her rainbow hue now covered in leaves and some dirt.

Embers' fur was all over and small tangles could be seen throughout it all, his tail had some leaves in it as well. My pure white quills had some dirt as well, the wind blew so hard it was whistling from above.

"Hey, hey now it's okay Y/N we will figure it out." Cotton's voice was soft as she wiped away my tears.

"Anything yet Ember?" Star hums, her brows furrowed.

"I think- AHA yes!" Embers' computer numbers finally started to make sense, multiple equations and Star runs over, they both smile at each other until a certain formula shows up.

They froze, what was conclusive was shocking.

"It can't be."

"Star.."

"Ember, we need the crystals-"

"NO, they are still unstable, I haven't had enough chao energy to properly stabilize them." Ember's voice booms, his heart had started racing, and he and my sister glare back and forth.

"We need to fight!" Star demands, slamming her hand on the table, causing me to jump, Cotton takes notice and stands up, walking up to the other two.

"Ember, if this is who we think it is, we need to fight, or we might not have a home left at all." Cotton voices reason, but her darting eyes show her weakness.

"The black arms-" Ember types a few keys before a safe opens with some of the gadgets he uses to fight, my sister's speed stabilizers and Cotton's crystalized titanium brass knuckles. 

"Y/N, you need to stay here, you need to stay put." Star turns to face me, I run to her as she bends down, nuzzling our noses.

"I can't lose you Y/N.."  

"Sissy please, I can help!" I say cheerfully, grabbing my sister's quills gently.

"NO-."

I flinch at her stern words, tears welling up again in my eyes, as my brows furrow and I wear a frown on my face.

"No, I can't let you Y/N, you aren't ready, please don't worry, we aren't fighting alone, Ember sent out an emergency message to the other firelights." She sighs and lets go of her grip ever so slightly.

Cotton and Ember rub either side of my head, nodding to Stars' decision as they prepare a battle plan, messaging the others to let them know what to do and what is to be expected.
