A bright glow again from the gateway, and out shot Sonic, who began screaming like his life depended on it, shooting him across the shattered space to another gateway, the green one.
"C'MON WE HAVE TO FOLLOW HIM," Shadow shouted to me, he had already begun chasing after Sonic.
I use the last bit of energy I have to spindash after him, we both land right outside the gateway, Shadow was just a second too short of reaching Sonic.
Same story, different gateway, this all depends on Sonic, and there is nothing either of us could do about it until we get ahold of Sonic ourselves.
Shadow fists had a bright orange and red glow, his gloves slightly squeaked at the amount of tension caused by him clenching his fists.
My knees buckle once again and this time I feel them hit the ground, my head is pounding and my heart is racing. Shadows' anger quickly diminishes as he turns to me, my whole body shaking.
Shadow bends down to meet me, I can't seem to catch my breath and I continue to hyperventilate. "I heard everything, you tried your best to speak to Sonic." His eyes were gentle, I felt my own shaking trying to study his face.
"You need to breathe, a deep breath in- and a deep breath out." Shadow imitates his own words, gesturing for me to do the same.
Slowly I take a deep breath in at the same time as him, and we both release the breath at the same time. A few minutes pass as we take a few more deep breaths in and out.
My body finally calming itself down, my energy returning to how it once was, though the tingling feeling no longer there like how it was when I was with Sonic.
"They just wouldn't listen to me, Shadow." my voice barely above a whisper, "I know Y/N, Sonic can-"
"No, Shadow, it was someone else, Sonic was- well, rather kind, and wanted to hear me out." I feel my face flush, quickly being replaced by a red hue as I recall Sonics' kind gentle words and him catching me.
Shadow takes notice of my demeanor, his face unreadable for a moment before scoffing. "Well, we need to be more alert, every chance we get to talk to Sonic, we need to take it. I have a hard time believing he knows what's going on."
"I didn't get much time to explain the situation-" My tone wavered as my face continued with a now light dusting of pink.
Shadow then stands up, dusting himself off as he extends a hand out to me. I raise my brow ever so slightly before taking his hand, my knees unbuckling as I shift most of my weight to Shadow.
"Can you check again, maybe if we- ugh, hold hands or something, it could give your energy a boost it needs." He turns his face away from me, clearly not all that comfortable with physical contact.
"That's not a bad idea, but whatever happens you cannot let go of my hand, your boost of energy may allow me more time to stay in the shatter world," I state rather sternly, if Shadow planned to do this, he needs to ensure, all feelings aside, that he doesn't let go until I come back.
"Fine, whatever gives us a better chance at contacting him." Shadows' voice now gruff again, steps closer to the gateway with me, extending his hand out to mine.
I slowly take it, not daring to look at his ruby eyes, I slowly close my own with a shaky breath and glide my hand against the gateway.
Once again the fleshy feeling returns, but instead of a bright red light, I'm met with almost complete darkness and the sound of a voice.
"What happened here..?" Sonic exclaims as I hear footsteps along the grass, this world is like no other, the trees are towering over the land, looming with a dark presence.
