Picture: Aiern flying on his glider by me!
Theme song: The Tide Began to Rise by Demon Hunter.
Disclaimer: There is some morbidness in this song, I think its fine, and it fits Aiern ridiculously well, but just thought I'd warn my younger friends. :)

Chapter 4- The Last Victim
"Zoey? Where'd Anna go?"
"She went begging. Said she'd come back and share if she got anything. Ian went with her."
"He did?"
"Ya. You weren't around, and so she just waltzed off, and he ran after her." "Oh. Any clue where they went?"
"She was going to try beside the tunnel."
"Humph. I'd better go make sure they're alright."
"Oh, they're fine."
"Mmmh... I'm gonna check anyway, might join them."
***
Anna trotted down the road, Ian following behind.
"Hey Anna, are you sure we should- you know be out here?"
"Shane said it was OK."
"He did?"
"Yep." She lied.
Ian glanced around, "OK. Do you have cardboard?"
"No. I'll find some."
A few minutes later she returned from a dumpster with a slightly damp cardboard box. She ripped off one flap took a marker out of her pocket, shook it, and wrote "please help" in big sloppy little kid letters. She then leaned it against the nearest building and plopped down next to it.
"Ian, hat."
Ian took off his ball cap and arranged it in front of them then sat beside her.

Aiern pressed his weight forward, the glider picking up speed. Lower, lower... There perfect. He swept along parallel to the building, just above a persons natural line of sight. Careful... careful Aiern. There! She was sitting cross legged against the side of the building beside a slightly older boy. Next to them was an old damp piece of card board saying "please help" and a hat. She was homeless then? Then that red-headed kid...? Aiern ignored it, it didn't matter, he'd figure it out later, right now he just needed to take her and get out of here.
"Activate."
Thin mettle arms reached out from his glider and curled around her waist, she screamed and jumped up trying to push them off of her. Her brother -he assumed it was her brother- hacked at them with his hands and tried to pull them away.
"SHANE!! SHAAAAANNNEE!!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. A car swerved slightly, but other than that no one paid them any attention. There weren't any people on the streets anyway, so no one else felt they were in danger. Aiern smiled slightly despite himself, at least he wasn't the one screaming.
Suddenly, a huge force hit him from the side and threw him off of his glider and painfully into the concrete wall. He fell to the ground feeling a huge lump forming on his head. He noted fuzzily that it was a different sort of pain than he was used too. And then some one was on top of him, trying to choke him. He tried to call for his glider to taser whoever it was, but realized to late that you can't talk while being choked, and apparently he wasn't close enough to death for it to kick in automatically. So he kicked at the person, finding they were of the male species, and rolled back into a standing position. He was feeling rather proud of himself and jumped back up onto his glider, when he finally got a good look at them.
"Shane?"
Shane glared up at him, "So you figured out my name then?"
Aiern waited a few seconds for him to give up and run away, but he didn't. "Why are you still here?"
Shane growled at him, and Aiern raise an eye brown, "Are you trying to imitate a dog?" he tipped his head to one side. He had to admit that he enjoyed infuriating people.
Shane took a deep breath -and stopped, and smiled. He was looking at the forgotten mettle ropes still attached to Anna. He grabbed them and started pulling the glider and Aiern with it down towards himself. The glider could hold two people, but not three, however small. Aiern quickly released Anna and took off. Shane yelped as his feet left the ground."WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"
He flew them up above the buildings and into the upper layer of smog and hovered there.
"Shane! I have good news for you." Shane looked up, desperately holding onto the ropes with a look of sarcasm mixed with fear, which was an interesting combination.
"I've decided NOT to kill you."
"Oh. Well thanks. I feel so much better now that I'm still hanging 100 feet in the air."
"I, however, have decided that the average person does not try to attack a worker with their bare hands, nor does the average person successfully lie to said worker. Therefore I have decided to take you..." he paused slightly, mostly out of sheer hatred of the name, but tried to make it sound like he was being dramatic, "...to Destri Renashan."
"Who the hay is she!?"
"You really do filter yourself around those kids don't you."
"You didn't answer my question! WHO. IS. SHE!?"
"You'll find out. Would you like to continue hanging on or will you let me capture you."
"Ah... Is there not a third option of letting me off safely on the ground?"
"No." Aiern cracked the tiniest of smiles. He's helping you already. What are you? My inner Cassandra?
"Fine. The second option..."
"No trying to escape." he started descending towards the top of a building.
"OK."
"I'd like to think that I know you well enough to know that that was a lie."
"Ya, whatever."
