Evangeline sat in the gym watching the cheerleaders perform for the disappearance of Madison Nears.

She scoffed. How could anyone show school spirit at this time? This girl was missing for 3 days. As soon as the pep rally ended the girl was out of her seat and the first one out of the gym.

"Hey! Wait up!" Evangeline slowed at the sound of her best friend's voice.

"Hey Inez. Gosh. Can you believe they'd have a pep rally while that girl is still missing?" Evangeline said as her red headed best friend caught up to her.

"I know right? Wasn't your brother dating her?" Inez asked as the two walked up to her locker.

Evangeline sighed as she opened her locker pulling out her books and phone charger.

"Oh, i'm sorry. Rough topic?" Inez asked her friend sheepishly as she could tell something was off.

"No, no you're fine." The brown haired girl said while closing her locker. "I'm just worried about Xav. I've heard people talking."

"Really? Saying what?" Evangeline glanced around before pulling her friend into the girls bathroom.

"They are accusing Xavier of knowing or doing something to her." She said to her friend while looking into the mirror. "And he won't answer any of my texts."

"Do you think he knows something." Inez asked curiously.

"I really hope not." The first bell rang and the girls exited the bathroom. "I'll see you after school. I'm still driving you home right?"

"Yeah, See you later Vange."

The two girls went their separate ways. Evangeline made her way into history, late of course, and took her seat.

"Glad you could finally join us, Ms Baxter." The teacher said as Evangeline slipped her headphones in.

"Sorry." The girl put her head down listening to music.

She zoned out for a while til she noticed commotion around her and looked up to see Simon accusing her twin brother of knowing something.

"Alright boys, let's calm down." Ms fields said trying to de-escalate.

"No, no. Tell me what the fuck you think you know!" Xavier shouted pointing his finger at Simon.

"Xavier what the fuck are you doing?!" Evangeline loudly exclaimed.

"You did something to her!" Simon accused, ignoring the girl sitting behind her brother.

"Fuck this. I'm outta here." Xavier said while putting his bag on.

Evangeline bit her lip and then stood up quickly and grabbed her brother's bag and yanked him back.

"What the fuck, Vange?!" Xavier screamed in her face as the contents of his bag went flying on the floor. One thing in particular stood out.

"Holy shit, Xavier. Why do you have.." Evangeline started to say while staring at the object on the ground.

"Maddie's phone." Simon finished for her as the room was filled with a tense silence.
