"Beomgyu! Can you keep the noise down for a second for the least?" Beomgyu's mom yelled from her room.
Beomgyu lowered the sound of his guitar a bit but continued anyway.
"It doesn't matter when I'm with you-" he played in front of his fans. He wasn't that popular. Yet. He would say to himself. He wanted to be a soloist. Just like those fabulous idols. But he didn't care about them because he was doing this for himself, not others.
He had a tough time making his mother support his dream career since he was good at his studies, and his father hoped his son would become a doctor and serve the people of Daegu. Well, look how that turned out. He had been saving up for buying the electric guitar that shone in his hand for months, no years. He didn't know how he still hadn't gotten caught by his father because if he knew, Beomgyu would be chopped liver. Again, one can not be so sure about their luck.
Time ticked on as he was so into the moment with his guitar. This is my wife now, and I love her, was his mental motto. He momentarily forgot that his father would be home any second now, but luck was on his side, and he heard the faint sound of the door opening over the music. Call that a lucky boy, don't ya?
He swiftly tucked away his guitar in one of his closets, said a quick goodbye to his fans, shut down the laptop, and hid the wires and cables connected to the guitar in his desk.
He quickly takes out his Biologyu book and starts taking notes and marking lines in it. Thank you so much, God, for having my back yet again. He heard his father's indistinguishable chatter with his mother in the other room. Was he in trouble? Did he play the guitar a bit too loud? Was he dead?
He shook his head and gave his attention back to his studies. If he got good grades, then there's nothing to suspect of him doing that was highly a good gossip for society. Right?
After a few hours of study, he went down to have dinner with his parents. They ate silently, for which he was highly grateful. There was a slay of a murder of dragons going on in his head. After finishing his dinner, he thanked his parents for the meal and went back up to his room.
After brushing his teeth, he goes to his bed and hides under the covers. He then turns his head toward his phone, which is plugged into the charger on the bedside table. He unplugs it and goes on Weverse.
His eyes brighten as he sees Yeonjun's latest live. He hadn't expected to find Yeonjun when he brought the neighbors some cakes. He could barely hide how happy he was to see his idol face-to-face.
He clicked on the video and melted at Yeonjun's velvet voice. He watched as he smiled and laughed, reading the comments that MoAs had left for him. He wanted to write something, too, but when he clicked on the comment section, his mind went blank.
He gazed back at Yeonjun. The guy probably ran out of topics to speak about when he started speaking about moving to a new house. Beomgyu couldn't understand why Yeonjun chose this place to live. But you could never judge someone without knowing the reason, right?
As Yeonjun talked about his new move, a MoA asked him whether he has a neighbour or not. He uttered a suspenseful maybe which caught the attention of his fans. But to remove and rumours being passed around like a virus, he clarified that his neighbour was probably a guy.
MoA: What does this neighbour look like?
"What's up with all these random questions?" Yeonjun chuckled. "He's not bad, but he's also not my type. And I'm not talking more about this thing or else you guys would hunt down my whole address," he joked.
Beomgyu tried not to feel offended. But he couldn't hold back the scoff that escaped his throat. Excuse me? You don't even know me, you pig!
His ego would not let him continue watching the live. So, he plugged his phone back into the charger and went to sleep with a permanent frown on his face.
~~~
The city hums in its quietest hours, a lullaby Beomgyu can never fall asleep to.
