"She has kids," she said, and Sky and I looked at each other before we looked at her, looking very confused. "Is that correct?"
"Yes, b-"
"And how old is she?" Mom asked, interrupting me. She raised an eyebrow in question while she studied me, and I held back an eye roll because I had no idea why this was going on.
"Eighteen, bu-"
"And how many kids does she have under her care?"
"Why are you asking me these questions?" I asked, not answering her question but asking her one of my own. I furrowed my brows and frowned, pressing my lips into a thinner line. I was confused and a bit annoyed while I studied her because I had no idea why she was doing this to us. "Where are you going with this, Mom?"
My mother bit back an annoyed sigh and shook her head."Just answer the question, Blake," she said and narrowed her eyes while she scowled. "How many kids does she have under her care?"
I bit back an annoyed sigh and rubbed the bridge of my nose while I shook my head and pursed my lips in annoyance. "Four," I replied. "She has four kids that are under her care."
"And how old are they?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question.
"The oldest is ten-years-old, and the youngest is four-years-old," I replied. "She is the same age as Sky and is her best friend." I gestured toward Sky, and Sky waved and bit back a small smile.
"And who is the dad?" Mom asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she studied me with a frown on her face.
I shrugged and grimaced because I had no idea who their fathers were or if they had the same father or not. "I do not know who they are."
"So she is a whore."
I paused and looked at her, confused. I was shocked and surprised that my mother called her a whore when Bailey was nothing like a whore, and I had no idea if she had ever had sex before. "What?" I asked and cocked my head to the side while I studied her. "What did you say?"
"What's a whore?" Skylar asked, confused. She frowned and furrowed her brows while she looked between the two of us. "And how is Bailey a whore?"
"Something that you will not be," Mom said and looked at her. She scowled and narrowed her eyes while she stared at her. "You are not going to go sleeping around with boys you do not know and get knocked up."
"But Bailey only sleeps with Trevor and Blake," she said, confused, and I had to stop myself from smacking my head because I knew that she did not know what my mother meant, even though I did. "How is that a whore?"
"We have slept in the same house, and we do not sleep in the same bed, Mom," I said, interrupting Mom from saying something to me with a look of anger on her face. I bit back a tired sigh and shook my head while I looked at Sky. "And Mom is talking about people kissing each other while getting naked."
Sky frowned and furrowed her brows, shaking her head. "But you don't do that, Blake," she said and shook her head. "You two haven't even kissed each other yet, even though I want you to kiss her." She pouted and smacked her hand on the couch. "I thought you liked her."
"He is not kissing her," Mom said and snapped. "She is a whore, and I do not want him kissing her or being near her at all. I do not want her to be any part of my family at all because she is a disgusting bitch because she had kids at such a young age."
A shiver went down my spine, and I stared at her with a look of shock and surprise. "Mom, she is a virgin," I said and shook my head, and slowly my shock and surprise turned to anger. "She doesn't have any kids that came from her body. She's adopted them."
"Why?" my mother asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she looked at me. She scowled and narrowed her eyes, and I could tell that she didn't like the idea that Bay adopted the kids.
"Because she is a better person than you," I snapped, and a look of shock and amazement appeared on her face. I stood and shook my head, deciding that I didn't want to be in the same room as her because of what she had called Bailey and had implied about her character. "She is understanding and kind, and I am going to go back over there because I want to be near her and not you."
"Excuse me?" Mom asked. "What did you say?"
"I am going back over there, and I do not want to stay a minute in this house ever again because if I do, then I am going to do something that I will regret." I started to walk to the door.
"And if you leave this house, then you will never be welcomed back!" Mom exclaimed. "You are not taking your car, is that understood?"
"That's fine," I said and nodded, and my heart ached because I knew that it meant I was leaving Sky behind. "I didn't need the car anyway."
"And leave your phone."
I did what I was told to do and tossed my phone on the table, pressing my lips into a thinner line.
"Wait, what about me?" Sky asked and stood from the couch. She started to walk over to me, but Mom wouldn't let her get too far. "Don't leave me, Blake," she said. "I want to go with you. I don't want to stay here."
I stopped and looked at her, and my heart became filled with pain and sadness. I bit back a small smile and shook my head, trying but failing to keep the pain off of my face. "I'm sorry, Kiddo," I said and took another step back while my heart raced and pounded hard and fast in my chest. "You aren't eighteen. I legally can't take you with me."
"Bu-"
"I'm sorry," I said, interrupting her while I shook my head. "I will do what I can to get you out of Mom's care, but that is all I can promise." I turned around and started to walk toward the door again, and my mother scowled and narrowed her eyes without saying a word.
Skylar started to try and get away from our mother. "No! Blake!" she yelled while she reached out toward me. "No!"
I didn't turn back around to look at her, and my heart broke into a million pieces while my sister struggled against our mother to get away from her.
"No! Blake!" she yelled and continued to struggle to get away from her. "Please! No! Don't leave me!"
I didn't say a word and continued to walk away from her, deciding that when I got to Bailey's house, I was going to get her help to get Sky away from our parents, especially since I knew that my mother wasn't fit to be a mother.
Hold on, Sky, I silently said, biting the inside of my lip and tucking my head closer to my chest while tears started to prick the corner of my eyes. Please, because as soon as I get you away from her, I will never let you go again.
I promise...
