"Where are we now." Shadow finally looks at the yellow gateway. "Well, if my eyes were working correctly when this all went down, this gateway is the one you and Sonic came from."

That seemed to annoy him for a reason I couldn't understand.

I could tell he was brooding around now, mumbling nonsense into the space around us, his brows never stopped being furrowed and the once frown was more of a scowl now. "Hey, it's okay! This is progress, he was able to almost break through the barrier, if we could just tell him next time to run faster he may kick up enough prism energy to end up back here."

I take a step towards Shadow, the words slightly comforting him. I lay my hand on his shoulder as he quickly tenses up to the touch, "You're right." His voice was airy like he had finally taken that breath he needed to relax.

About thirty minutes of well-needed silence passes between us.

"It may be a bit longer before I can check on him again, I feel my strength returning rather quickly though." I let go of his shoulder and examine my own hands the small rainbow sparks appear from them.

Shadow lets out a hum in acknowledgment before returning to his well-normal expression. I rock back and forth my heels lightly smack against the ground, "So.. being the 'ultimate life form' you are, do you ever get hungry?" Curiosity killed the cat.

"No, do you? It wouldn't make much sense since we are in space and it doesn't appear there would be food anywhere at all." He glances over at me, a slight smirk forming on his face, I could tell he was trying to get more information out of me. I can't blame him for trying.

"Ahh well- I used to get hungry but now I mainly get tired, hunger is a matter of perspective now, I can eat but.. like you said there isn't much here to eat." I smile softly appreciating the fact he was curious and even gave me an answer at all.

What is this feeling?

Does it have a name?

"I understand the feeling." Shadow's voice was low only for a split second. We both sat down in front of the gateway, staring off into the beautiful shade of yellow emitting from it. Something calls out to me, it grows louder and louder.

"Y/N?" Shadow who now sounded annoyed, "What do you see?"

"Nothing-"

"Really.."

"It's what I'm hearing, it's like the gateway is calling to me." I glance between the gateway and Shadow who is slightly tilting his head causing his ears to flop. "Maybe because you're glowing." He blatantly states, "What?!" I hold my hands out in front of me, the rainbow hue returning to them rather bright.

"Jeez, are you even paying attention?" Shadow pinches his brows together, pointing to how my powers began to spike when the distance between the portal and I shortened.

"Right, right." I inch closer to the gateway. I reached out my hand to use my powers to see what may be going on behind the scenes, but something was different.

"This one... different than usual." I notice Shadow step forward as well, almost in unison we both place our hands on the portal, this new feeling. This amount of energy, I have never felt before.

It was a cool breeze, which caused me to shudder, there was a soft warm feeling as well and though it was quiet it was different, I was falling.

I open my eyes and look down, a familiar yet completely unfamiliar surroundings. I land harshly on the ground smacking my body against it while Shadow lands next to me. Sorrow filled his eyes for a second as he looked around his home, though it was nothing like how it was meant to be.
