Dax's POV
The alarm on my phone woke me up that morning and there was an annoying buzz vibrating through my head as I tried to roll over onto my back.
Once I was facing the ceiling, I stared at it, the combination of ringing, buzzing and sound of the alarm rang through my ears as I tried to recall what had happened the previous night.
I thought hard, and the harder I thought the more my head throbbed to remember.
Blank. Nothing but white noise in there.
I wanted to remember because of all the dreams I had. I wanted half of the dreams to come true and the other half to stay as 'just dreams' forever.
After what felt like eternity, I forced myself to sit up with a groan, turning the stupid alarm off and tossing my phone to the side with a huff.
Thank God I didn't have work today, I wouldv'e been fucked if I did.
I checked my phone, looking through the notifications in case Tal had called me anytime last night or maybe this morning, which I doubt she had.
My doubts were correct.
I groaned, throwing myself back into the pillows. What was I supposed to do? I couldn't just stay miserable like this. She's having fun, I should also be having fun.
She was my idea of fun. I wanted to hang out with her.
My phone suddenly buzzed and my neck almost snapped from getting up too quickly at the sound of the notification.
My hopes and spirits quickly fell as I saw that it wasn't who I hoped it would be. It was only Ran, I thought, rolling my eyes as I clicked on the single notification. He was calling me over to his house to watch a movie and talk if I had nothing to do.
I would've said no but I felt bad because it'd been a while since we'd actually hung out and talked just the two of us. It'd be a nice way to relax on a day off, I guess.
I replied with a thumbs up and said I'd be there around 1 in the afternoon, and jumped when I realised that it was already 12 and that I'd need to start getting ready now if I wanted to get there by 1.
I put my phone down and rushed to my closet to grab out some shorts and a t-shirt, almost tripping as I ran into the bathroom.
After taking a nice warm shower, I quickly got dressed and went downstairs to find my grandmother in the kitchen, giving me a grave look. I mentally groaned, waiting for the lecture, but to my surprise it never came.
"Well, good morning to you, sir," she said, placing a cup of hot coffee on the kitchen table, smiling at me cheekily.
I looked at her suspiciously and went to sit down, taking the coffee into my cold hands. "Did you poison this?" I asked, taking a long sniff of the aroma that was steaming from the top of the mug.
Gran laughed heartily at my joke, "Your lady friend told me what happened last night," she said, making my eyes widen. "I forgot her name... it was something like..."
I put the cup down. "She did? What'd she say?" I couldn't really remember what had happened, only how I'd fallen asleep on the way back home from the bar.
"Oh, just that you went out for a drink with her," she brushed me off vaguely. "Your friend looks the absolute same from when I'd last seen her," she mentioned, turning her back on me. "What is her name?" she wondered again.
I grunted, taking another sip. "Emily."
Gran brightened up, "Oh yeah, Emily, how could I have forgotten."
