Wait... Is This a Date?

Y/N paced in her apartment. What do I even wear to this?!

It wasn't supposed to be a date. Right?

But Nagi had specifically told Rei that he had plans with Y/N. And that whole "I'm serious about food and you" thing? What was that?

Her brain was in chaos.

In the end, she settled on something nice but not date-like. A simple dress, nothing too fancy. Casual but cute.

At exactly 7:02 PM, her doorbell rang.

She opened it to see Nagi, looking effortlessly good in a simple white shirt and black jacket. His hair was still messy, but somehow it just worked.

He blinked at her. "You look nice."

Y/N fought the urge to blush. "You're late."

Nagi yawned. "Two minutes isn't late."

Y/N rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Let's just go."

The dinner spot was a cozy, upscale restaurant-nothing too fancy, but definitely not somewhere you'd take a coworker for a casual meal.

They ordered food, and for a while, the conversation was normal. Work, upcoming projects, random small talk.

But then-

"You're really different from high school, you know," Nagi said suddenly.

Y/N blinked. "Huh?"

"You were always the responsible one back then," he said, lazily poking at his food. "Always scolding me and making sure I did my work. I kinda thought you'd be the same."

Y/N raised an eyebrow. "And I'm not?"

Nagi tilted his head. "You are, but... you also seem cooler now."

Y/N nearly dropped her fork. "I-I what?"

Nagi shrugged. "Dunno. Just an observation."

Y/N was losing it. This man was complimenting her like it was nothing, while she was sitting here trying not to combust.

She cleared her throat, forcing herself to focus. "Well, you're different too."

Nagi raised an eyebrow. "How?"

"You're actually working now," she said, giving him a playful smirk. "It's weird."

Nagi huffed. "Yeah, yeah. Life's tiring, y'know."

Y/N laughed. "And yet, here you are, running a whole company. Who would've thought?"

Nagi gave her a lazy grin. "Guess I just needed the right motivation."

Y/N rolled her eyes. "Let me guess. Money?"

Nagi leaned back in his chair, looking at her with a small, unreadable smile. "Mm... maybe something else, too."

Y/N froze.

Wait. WAIT. What does that mean?!

Before she could react, their food arrived, breaking the tension.

But Y/N could not focus. Because now, all she could think about was what Nagi really meant.

And worse? She was starting to hope.
