Rei was seething.
First, Nagi ignored her in the break room. Then, he defended Y/N. And now? Now he was spending more time around Y/N than ever.
She needed to do something.
So, naturally, she decided to go nuclear.
That afternoon, as Y/N was organizing files at her desk, Rei stormed in, heels clicking aggressively against the floor.
"Y/N!" she snapped.
Y/N sighed, barely looking up. "Rei, if this is about Nagi again, I swear-"
"It is about Nagi," Rei cut her off, voice dripping with triumph. "And how he asked me out for dinner tonight."
Y/N froze.
Wait. What?
Rei smirked at her reaction. "I knew you'd be shocked. But it's true. He texted me this morning and said he wanted to talk over dinner."
For a moment, Y/N didn't know what to say. Nagi had never mentioned anything about this. Could Rei be lying?
But before she could respond, Nagi walked by, his usual lazy expression in place.
Y/N, still processing, immediately turned to him. "Nagi, you-"
Before she could finish, Rei jumped in. "Nagi-kun, I'll see you at seven tonight!"
Nagi blinked at her, looking vaguely confused. "Huh?"
Y/N crossed her arms, watching the scene unfold.
Rei's smile faltered slightly. "Dinner? Tonight? You texted me this morning."
Nagi stared at her for a moment, then pulled out his phone. He scrolled for a second before frowning. "I didn't text you."
Rei's face twitched. "What? But-"
Nagi turned his phone around, showing his messages. "See? No texts from me."
Y/N had to physically stop herself from laughing.
Rei looked like she was about to explode. "T-That's weird! Maybe my phone-maybe I-"
Nagi, now completely uninterested, shrugged. "Dunno. But I already have dinner plans with Y/N."
Y/N's head snapped up. "What?"
Rei's mouth dropped. "W-What?!"
Nagi looked at Y/N like she was the weird one. "Yeah. I asked you yesterday, remember?"
Y/N did not remember this. "When did you ask me?"
Nagi blinked, then lazily tilted his head. "When I asked if you were busy later and you said no."
Y/N thought back. Oh my god. That wasn't just casual talk?
Rei clenched her fists. "Nagi-kun, you can't be serious-"
"I'm always serious when it comes to food," Nagi yawned, stretching. "And Y/N."
Y/N's brain short-circuited. Excuse me?!
Rei looked devastated. She took a deep breath, forced a fake smile, and then-without another word-stormed out of the office.
The moment she left, Y/N turned to Nagi. "Okay, what was that?"
Nagi rubbed the back of his neck. "Dunno. But it was kinda funny."
Y/N groaned. "You seriously asked me out yesterday? And I didn't realize it?!"
Nagi smirked. "Yeah. Guess you're slow, too."
Y/N glared. "I hate you."
"You don't," Nagi said, hands in his pockets as he walked off. "See you at seven, Y/N."
Y/N groaned again. Oh my god. I am so in trouble.
