Chapter 1: Welcome to the Family Business

I had just gotten home from my graduation and sat on my bed with my laptop.

I typed in 'top colleges for medical school' and a list of expensive university's came up

I scrolled through each one to see if they met my expectations.

'Too close to home...too small...too plain...' I thought

But then the letters NYU caught my eye. 'hm I've always wanted to go to New York' I thought  

I clicked on the link to the home page and began scanning the medical program.

"Val darling!" called my mother

I rolled my eyes and headed down stairs

When I got into the kitchen I saw my mother sitting at the dining room table with Frank and two of his Capos.

"What's up?" I asked wondering why everyone was so serious

"We have to talk to you," Said Frank

"Um okay" I laughed to break the tension

"We never planned for this to happen but in order to keep close alliances we had to make a compromise" explain my Mother

"Okay I guess I get that but what are you talking about" I asked very confused

"Sweetie-"Frank was cut off by people barging through the door

"Mr. Frank, its time" said a man with a deep voice

"Just a little more time please!" my Mother begged

"We have given you plenty of time and we made a deal" said a familiar voice

But before I could see who was talking two men in black suits grabbed my arms and started pulling me towards the door. I panicked

"What the hell! Get off me!! Mom Please do something help me!" I shouted

I was pulled out of the kitchen and I saw my brother and sister in the living room.

My younger sister Lia was crying on my older brother's shoulder.

"Hey be gentle with her!" yelled my brother

"Venice help me! What's going on!?" I began to cry

Before I could take one last look at my home I was escorted to the back of a black limo.

"Let go of me!" I screamed and began kicking the guard who was still holding my arm

One of the other men pulled out his gun and raised it at me

"NO PLEASE I DON'T WANT TO-"before I could finish I was knocked out with the back of the gun.

1 hour later

I jolted awake only to be found on a couch surrounded by men in black suites.

"She's awake" called one of them

I heard the sound of many people walking on the wood floor

"Hello!" gleamed a women with pitch black hair and emerald eyes.

I looked at her and all the other faces surrounding me

"Who are you people? Where am I?! Why am I here?" I said getting louder

"I know you have a lot of questions but they will all be answered with in good time" said a low raspy man with a gray beard and brown eyes.

"First things first how's your head?" ask the Lady as she gently touched it
