|🌻-Y/n's POV-🌻|

Early the next morning, I knew it was time for it to end.

I had a dream. Well, a nightmare, really.
Where I was hurt and everyone I knew turned their backs on me.
And some people I didn't exactly know.
Luca's family.
Mei and Violet's families.
Camilo's family.

I woke up in a panic, jumped up and hit my head.

"Ow..." I whispered, rubbing it softly.

"Y/n?"

I jumped at the sound of my name, coming from above me.

"Yeah?"

"Are you okay?" Camilo asked.

"Yeah... I just hit my head."

"Why are you awake?" He asked, hanging his head over the bed to look at me.

I laughed at the sight, wiping away tears I didn't notice I'd been crying.

"Bad dream. What about you?"

"Same." He smiled. "You wanna talk about it? Get some hot chocolate or something?"

I smiled. "I'd like that."

"Good, because I'm starting to get dizzy," he laughed.

I grabbed one of his curls and bounced it. "Boing." I giggled.

He laughed. "Okay, let me just put my shirt on."

A few minutes later, the two of us were sat with our knees touching on the couch, nursing cups of hot chocolate.

"It was... weird," I explained. "I was hurt. Or... different, in some way. And everyone I knew turned their backs on me. But I kept... changing. Like, one minute I'm me, and my family are walking away. And then the next I'm Luca or you!"

His eyebrows shot up. "I was in your dream?"

"Yeah! I-I think. I dunno. I couldn't see you but I felt... like you. I-It's weird."

"No, no! Believe me, I know exactly how that feels. Literally." He shifted into me.

"Oh, yeah! Duh!" I slapped my forehead. "I totally forgot about that!"

He chuckled, turning back into himself. "My powers get affected by my dreams a lot. Half the time, I wake up as someone else."

"Did that happen today?"

He looked at his drink. "Yeah..."

"Who was it?" I asked curiously.

His cheeks reddened. "Uh... it was... y-you..."

My eyes widened. "Oh yeah? What was your dream about?" I leaned in as I asked.

"It wasn't too difficult from yours. I kept shifting. Like, uncontrollably. It's happened before. And my family just walked away. I kept asking for help but they ignored me. I think I turned into you last, which is why I woke up as you."

"I see," I said, finishing off my drink. "Thank you."

"For what?" He asked.

I shrugged, placing my mug on the table. "Staying up and talking about this. And, y'know, not being an asshole in general."

He chuckled. "You're welcome? And, thanks. For... making me feel at home here."

"No problem, Milo."

He furrowed his brow. "Milo?"

"Yeah, it's time you got a nickname too. Y'know, Mei, Berto, Vi, N/n..."

He smiled, blush rising to his cheeks. "I like that."

I giggled softly. Before I could stop myself, I leaned forward and bounced one of his curls.

"Boing." I whispered.

He laughed, eyes fixed on my face as I continued messing with his hair.

I only stopped when Alberto snore loudly, which scared the hell out of me. I brought my hands to my chest in surprise, lost balanced and fell onto Milo.

I laughed, looking up at his flustered face.

And in that moment, I knew.
If I'm not careful, I'm gonna fall for this guy.
And I'm really, really careless.

So, that afternoon, when Mei and Violet invited us to their room, I knew I had to take this chance.

"Hey, Milo? Do you and Luca wanna go ahead?" I asked while the two of them waited at the door. "I need to talk to Alberto."

Camilo's eyes widened. "Okay. See you later." He waved as him and Luca walked out of the dorm.

"Hey, where'd they go?" The sea monster asked.

"I told them to go on without us. We need to talk." I said, clasping my hands behind my back as I faced him.

His face fell. "What do you mean? What about?"

I closed my eyes.

"We need to break up."

"What? Why?"

I opened my eyes just in time to see him step towards me, arms outstretched.

"Please, don't," I said, stepping out of his reach. "It isn't anything you've done, but... this has to stop."

"Why?"

"Alberto, you're one of my best friends. And, I definitely wanna stay friends. But you don't like me like that. You know you don't."

He didn't say anything for a while.

"I-I don't-"

"You like Luca. Okay? It's obvious. Everyone knows but you and him. I just- I can't sit around and be your beard anymore. You need to man up and ask him out. And to do that, you can't really have a girlfriend, can you?" I chuckled softly.

"I..." His eyes darted around as he took in everything I said. "D-Do you think... Luca likes me?"

I laughed. "Obviously yes! You've been pining for eachother as long as any of us have known you. I only started going out with you because I was too dense to see it. These few months have been nice, but, we're better off friends."

He paused again.

"Okay... Sorry, Y/n."

I laughed. "Berto, it's fine, really."

"So... we're cool?"

"We're cool." I assured him, punching his shoulder softly. "Pal."

"Buddy." He did the same.

We laughed.

"Great. Wanna go catch up with the others?"

"Yep!"

While we walked down the hall to their room, he turned to me.

"How should I... ask him out?"

"Luca? Just say it. Neither of you can take hints, they go right over your heads. Just... be blunt as hell."

He grinned. "Thanks."

"No problemo, amigo."

We walked into Mei and Vi's dorm, which they shared with two boys: a white haired kid with ice powers called Jack Frost, and a normie with brown hair called Hiccup (they were out at the moment).

As soon as we arrived, Alberto and Luca went outside, and I flopped on the couch between Camilo and Violet.

"Well. I just broke up with Alberto."

"Really?!" Mei gasped, sitting up straight.

"Yeah. Don't worry, we're still friends."

"What made you finally do it?" Vi asked.

"I just..." I glanced at Camilo. "Realised I have better choices out there."

His mouth fell open, before he inhaled sharply and turned back to focus on the TV.
