“You know this definitely isn't what your parents meant when they told you to sign up for theater, right?”I whispered.

“I don't know what you're talking about. I’m in the show. See? That's my stage light right there,”He whispered back, adjusting it back to center stage.

“They're going to kill you when they show up tomorrow and don't see you on stage,”I reminded him, dimming the overheads.

“They get to see me at the end. When I have to do that stupid bow and all that.”

“Wow. Two seconds of you looking miserable in the background. They're going to be obsessed,”I deadpanned, rolling my eyes despite the way he wouldn't be able to see me. I’m sure he’ll feel my energy.

“I didn't tell them to come,”He shrugged as if that would alleviate the blowout.

“You also didn't tell them that you're not one of the actors.”

“It’ll be fine,”He insisted.

“It's gonna wreak havoc.”

“Yeah. And if it does you would watch it go down with your overpriced popcorn.”

“That is not true. I would find a vending machine candy bar,”I argued.

“And you wouldn't even let me have any.”

“Seeing as you're the reason I’ll need it, you’ll be a bit preoccupied.”

“You don't have to always talk like you're writing an essay. Has that thought ever occurred to you?”

“Have any thoughts ever occurred to you?”

“Romeo, Romeo, where are they Romeo?”

Sighing, we both turned to face the stage again, with me mumbling the words under my breath. Technically, that's against the rules, but so is talking about how your friend just screwed himself over so does it really matter at this point?
