Hell no.
That's the first thought that crosses your mind as you sit stiffly in your father's sleek office, glaring at the android standing beside him. Neatly dressed in a dark suit, perfect posture, and an LED glowing cold blue on his temple. His expression is calm, professional.
"This is Connor," your father says, his tone firm. "He's going to be your bodyguard from now on."
You blink. "You're kidding."
Your father leans back in his chair, giving you a look that says he's anything but. "Y/N, this isn't up for debate."
You frown. "I'm fine!" you snap, standing abruptly. "I've been fine for years. I don't need a bodyguard, let alone this thing! I live alone for a reason—I don't want people hovering over me!"
Connor doesn't flinch at your outburst. He stands perfectly still, his hands clasped behind him. "Miss Y/N, your safety is of utmost importance. I am fully equipped to ensure your protection in all circumstances. My presence will significantly reduce the likelihood of—"
"Yeah, no offense, but I didn't ask for a walking roomba to follow me around," you retort, narrowing your eyes at the android before turning back to your father. "I'm fine on my own. I don't need one."
Your dad sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. "This isn't just about you, Y/N. After what happened last week—"
"I handled it," you interrupt, crossing your arms.
"You think you handled it," he counters, his tone hardening. "A break-in, threatening letters—this is serious. You can't keep pretending like it's not. You might hate the spotlight, but that doesn't mean you're invisible. People know who you are, and that makes you a target."
You open your mouth to argue, but no words come. Because deep down, you know he's right. You hate it, but he's right.
"Look, I know you don't like this. But Connor is the best there is. He's discreet, capable, and... well, he's not going to bother you unless he has to. He's staying. End of discussion."
You glance at Connor, who hasn't moved an inch. His unflinching gaze makes you uneasy, like he's already memorizing every detail about you.
"Discreet? He's a robot, Dad. People are going to notice."
"He's an android," your father corrects, exasperated. "Would you rather have one android bodyguard or a group of my men?"
You sit back down heavily, staring at the desk. "Tch."
One android was definitely better than a dozen of annoying humans following you around for sure. You sigh. There's a long pause. Finally, you look up at the android, who's watching you with a level of focus that makes you cringe.
"Do I at least get a say in how this works?" you ask.
Connor tilts his head slightly, as if analyzing the question. "My protocols are designed to adapt to your preferences while ensuring your safety. I will attempt to respect your boundaries where possible."
You snort. "Comforting."
Your father stands, clearly signaling that the discussion is over. "Connor will escort you home and begin his duties immediately. Just... try not to make this harder than it has to be, Y/N."
You glare at him but don't say anything. What's the point? He's already decided, and now you're stuck with this.
Connor steps aside to let you leave first, his tone impossibly polite. "Shall we?"
You brush past him, muttering under your breath. "This is going to suck."
