"W-What... Where am I...?"

She held her head, trying to ease the pounding ache. Slowly, her senses returned, and she realized she was in the middle of an unfamiliar place.

"What is this place...?" she murmured, her voice barely audible. Weakly, she struggled to push herself off the ground, her limbs uncooperative and trembling. All she could manage was to sit up slightly, leaning against the rough surface of a towering wall behind her.

"Elena?!"

The shout startled her, drawing her attention to a man in the distance, his voice laden with urgency. He was yelling at a woman further to her right. Confused, she turned her head slowly, each movement amplifying the throbbing pain in her skull.

She noticed a commotion nearby. A crowd of citizens had gathered, their voices mingling with those of people clad in capes and armed with swords. The tension in the air was palpable.

"Open the gate! Deliver us to the Titans!"

A woman wearing a cult-like robe cried out fervently, her voice rising above the chaos. The crowd echoed her words in unison, their chant growing louder with each repetition.

"Open the gate! Open the gate!"

"What are they talking about?" she wondered aloud, her voice faint and disbelieving. No one paid her any attention. She was alone, her body racked with pain, her head pounding incessantly. Every breath she took seemed to worsen her condition. She winced, trying to make sense of the madness unfolding before her.

Looking around, she noticed the massive wall encircling the town, its immense height and solidity giving the impression of a fortress. This was the wall she leaned against, her sole source of support as she sat helplessly on the ground.

The cacophony grew louder until it was suddenly interrupted by the resonating clang of a bell. The sound was ominous, reverberating through the air and silencing the crowd momentarily.

. . .

Then, the gate began to open.

Her heart raced as an enormous figure loomed beyond the gate. It was a Titan, grotesque, towering creature, and it entered with terrifying purpose. Screams erupted as it began grabbing people, consuming them one by one. Chaos descended upon the town as fear and horror spread like wildfire.

Her breath quickened, her chest tightening with panic. She couldn't tear her eyes away from the horrifying scene.

"Wha... what is that...?" she whispered shakily, though no one was there to answer. Her body trembled uncontrollably, paralyzed by a mix of fear and pain. She felt utterly powerless, unable to move or even cry out.

The Titan continued its carnage, its enormous hands snatching terrified citizens. Suddenly, it regurgitated the mangled bodies it had devoured, the grisly remains falling to the ground with sickening splats.

As it moved toward the gate, it stopped abruptly. Its vacant, monstrous eyes fixed on her. She froze, her heart pounding like a drum in her chest.

Was it going to kill her? Tear her apart like the others? She wanted to scream, to flee, but her body refused to obey.

The Titan simply stared. Seconds felt like hours as it regarded her silently before turning away and lumbering out of sight.

A wave of relief washed over her, mingling with her confusion and disbelief. She exhaled shakily, gasping for air as if she had been holding her breath the entire time.

"What was that...? What's going on? Where am I?" she exclaimed, her voice cracking with desperation. She knew no answers would come. Alone and weak, she resolved to move.

Summoning every ounce of strength, she gripped the wall and pulled herself upright. Her legs quivered beneath her, barely supporting her weight. Step by step, she edged away from the wall, her resolve unwavering despite the searing pain coursing through her.

---

As she wandered through the devastated town, she came across two men wearing capes, their swords drawn. They stood near a pile of bodies, the gruesome remains of the Titan's victims. Among the bodies, she recognized the cult-like woman, now lifeless and discarded.

Suddenly, a faint cry broke through the stillness. A baby emerged from the woman's stomach, its fragile form drenched in blood and fluid. The sight was surreal.

"The son... of a Titan," one of the men muttered grimly.

Her legs threatened to give way, but she pressed on. Determination fueled her as she staggered toward the men. Her voice was hoarse and barely audible as she called out to them.

"H-Hey... Excuse me... Can you please help me?"

Author's note:

Hi! If some of you haven't read the manga Shingeki no Kyojin: Before the Fall, it's okay. This prologue is the only one spoiler of it I'll put here. If you haven't read it, READ IT. It's good.

I am not a professional writer so please bear with me and my efforts to explain and write things better. If you have any constructive criticisms to say, do say. I am all ears. I would love to improve what I lack.

I am not the owner of the characters of Attack on Titan nor its story. All credits to the author of Attack on Titan, Hajime Isayama. The only character I own here is the main character, Cesia Amaya.

I wanted the main character to be called Y/N, which is the reader(you) but I thought it would be better to just name a character to deepen the story and specify the traits of the main character. But oh well, you can just think that for this story, your name is Cesia Amaya. You can pronounce it however you want. May it be Sesha or Kesha.

ALSO. THIS BOOK HAS ALREADY BEEN FINISHED WRITING. I'LL BE UPLOADING 4 CHAPTERS A DAY, OR MAYBE 2 CHAPTERS IF I HAVE A BUSY DAY.
