(Xiao's POV)
This mortal is just... interesting. He can't just tell the truth nor keep his promise. I sigh and shake my head. I eat another spoonful of almond tofu. He's not a bad cooker you know, I enjoy this extra sweet almond tofu. I could get used to this- wait a minute, what am I thinking about? He's just a mortal. I mustn't get too attached.
"You're a weird one Traveler. I don't like crowded places. Maybe you can just scramble on and ask someone el-"
"No! I-I mean you're my only choice now... I don't like females and they might get the wrong idea! Y-you know..." he shouts. He sounds almost desperate. Would be a shame if I... decline the offer again...
"Traveler... you can't be serious, really? I mean you have Hu Tao and GaMing to help? Why me?" I ask, eating his almond tofu after I finish talking.
He doesn't seem to answer, looking away nervously like a small, fragile mortal child in trouble. I scoff and look away, annoyed by his persistence but I really can't seem to decline his offer. For some reason, my heart seems to beat faster and I seem to heat up. I sigh softly and place my hand on my face
"Fine... I will accompany you on this trip to Liyue on the day of the Lantern rite." I take my hand off my face and grumble.
I don't want to harm anyone if I go. Aether immediately brightens up and smiles, hugging me. I hold my breath and a faint blush spreads across my cheeks. I tense up and shout at him, panic tone slips out intentionally
"H-HEY! WHY ARE YOU HUGGING ME?! LET GO!! I'M GONNA DROP MY FOOD!" I shout, trying to put the food on the table. Aether pulls away and takes a step back, smiling sheepishly.
"Ah, sorry. I just got a bit carried away. I'll see you at the Lantern rite over by Mt. Tianheng. The lake to be exact. I'm really sorry about this inconvenience but thank you again!" He smiles then walks off. I stare at him with disbelief before turning away. I can't help at the warm feeling in my chest, it's uncomfortable, but I can't seem to find out why I enjoy it.
