Lost in my own thoughts, I slowly walked down the hall to the cafeteria for lunch. My stomach grumbled when I got a whiff of the food.

I was interrupted by a girl with strawberry blonde hair, a huge smile across her lips.

"Hi!" The petite girl sang, snapping me out of my trance like state.

"My name is Natalie. You must be the new girl? What's your name?" She greeted politely, sticking out her hand for me to shake.

"I'm Kendra," I smiled back, shaking her small hand.

"It's nice to meet you," Natalie replied, the smile still spread across her lips.

"Do you have anyone to sit with?"

I shook my head in reply, my stomach rumbling once more.

"You can come and sit with me and my friends if you'd like?" Natalie giggled, pointing to a table across the cafeteria.

"That would be great," I shrugged, a smile forming on my own lips.

Natalie grinned and grabbed my forearm, leading me to the back of the queue.

After ordering a bagel and a soda, Natalie guided me back to a table, two girls already vacated there.

"This is Laura," Natalie explained, pointing to a brown haired girl wearing a simple sweater dress.

"And this is Amy," she smiled, gesturing to the tall tanned girl with dirty blonde hair, who, in my opinion, Amy could pass off as a runway model.

I gave them a stiff nod and sat down eagerly wanting to devour my bagel.

"So Kendra, how do you like our school so far?" Amy asked, sinking her perfectly straight teeth into a chocolate muffin. I looked up, swallowing down a mouthful before speaking.

"It's okay. I had a run in with Hunter which ended with him falling on his ass," I chuckled, watching their reactions.

"And apparently the queen bee isn't a fan of me," I mumbled with a shrug. I didn't care much whether I was liked or not by people.

"You knocked over Hunter? I am impressed," Amy admitted, her eyes showing just how in awe she was. "As for the queen bee, she won't do much to you. Maybe make a bitchy comment or spill food on you but I think that you could handle anything she threw your way."

I smiled up at Amy. She seemed like somebody I would like to know a little better.

"I don't know who was more surprised, Hunter or me?  He's like... Over 6 foot tall. I have to admit though, I was proud of myself," I bragged with a smile.

We lapsed into a painfully awkward silence.

I raked through my brain to try come up with something interesting to say, rather than let the silence last any longer.

Thankfully Natalie broke the silence.

"So Laura, are you ready for the party tomorrow night?" Natalie asked with a smile, running a hand through her hair.

"I am. Kendra you should come along too," Laura inquired with a smile, her eyes twinkling under the fluorescent lights.

"Yeah, and you can get ready with me. I have the perfect dress for you!" Natalie squealed, clapping her hands together in excitement.

"That sounds good," I smiled.

Natalie was very bubbly and friendly, normally I would hate girls like her but she was different.

"I need to use the restroom," I muttered, regretting the amount of soda I had drank in such a short amount of time.

With my hair covering my eyes as I got up from my seat, I turned around, crashing into the blonde haired girl from English, her plate of food flying all over my face, and evil smirk across her dark lips.
