I never wanted to be this way. I never asked to be cursed, and I certainly didn't ask to be cursed as a cat. Of all the stinking animals, I had to be cursed as a small, pitiful looking, black cat. I was barely even three feet tall! That's how small the body I was shoved into was. Seriously, you'd think that maybe my captors would have given me a bigger body, and not insulted me by giving me what they called an 'approximation' of how tall I really am. Screw you bastards!

You look confused. Why? The whole cat thing not getting processed in your little brain fast enough? Or do you really don't get it? I suppose I could explain more. You see, my name is Sapphire Akasuna. More commonly called Saph, I am human. My ramblings before are simply things that have taken my life off course. Human I am, and human my shape will be again. I'm getting off track again, aren't I..Here! I have an idea. Why don't I just relive the memory, my little brain creeper? That way you can experience it firsthand.

“Deidara, why are we doing this again?” I asked, poking my head over the side of the clay bird we were on. The blond bomber grinned like a fool next to me, his one periwinkle blue eye sparkling with malicious yet childish humor.

“Leader-sama wanted this village destroyed.” He answered knowledgeably. I scoffed, retracting my head.

“I'm sure that flying over top of the village and practically announcing our presence to them is not the way to go.” I argued, poking him with my finger. He hissed, crouching.

“Leader-sama said I was in charge of the mission, so I think this is the best and easiest way! With a bang!” His schizophrenic smile returned. Deidara loved blowing things up. With his long, blond hair and girly looks, you would never suspect him of being an art loving pyro. He said art was something that went up in a bang.

“Alright! I was simply asking.” I muttered, readying a small jutsu Leader had asked me to come up with. It was a way to mark where we (the Akatsuki) have been when we want others to know. I simply press my hand to the ground and a small flag will grow up with the Akatsuki symbol on it: A red cloud on black background. Fairly simple and easy to make.

“Go!” Deidara whispered. Two flashes of black later, we were standing on the village perimeter as the clay bird swooped down over it and exploded, catching nearby buildings that hadn't exploded on fire. Screaming filled the air almost immediately, and I felt my mouth twist itself into a grin.

“One second.” I knelt down, pulling the sleeves of my cloak out of the way of my hand. Pressing my right hand into the dirt, I concentrated as a small flag popped out of the ground and slowly grew. “Done.” I dusted off my hand, moving to stand. I got about halfway when I felt something hit the back of my neck, and I passed out.

See? My instincts were right, but no! That stupid idiot had to go and be stupid again and almost get us both killed! From what I can tell (my memories of what happened after that are very, very foggy) the mission had been corrupted and some ninja had grown aware of what we were going to do. But instead of taking our lives, they decided to punish us. I don't know what happened to Deidara, but I got my soul ripped from my human body and shoved into a cat. Small, pitiful, cat. So there I was, stranded in god knows where with no effing idea what I was supposed to do. What do cats even eat? Fish, mice, uhm... I didn't really know back then. I was so clueless. The first few days were hell, but then I started to get things down pat again. I had killer reflexes, sharp claws that were much like my human nails, and fangs. Still had the fangs, the one thing that I never lost. I lost all ability to do jutsu, as well as those opposable thumbs we take for granted. So, ninja tools and jutsu were out. And I was lost. My sense of smell was heightened, and I could smell fear on someone's body from thirteen feet away. I was, generally a cat. Exactly what my capturers wanted. Assholes, I hope Deidara blew them to pieces.

So, there I was, lost, and just getting used to my new body. Little Mind Leech, you know what I did to pass the time? I traveled, that's what. I traveled, trying to find out where the hell I was. I listened to the conversation, and I learned one hell of a good way to get food. Some of you may think begging is lowly and un-noble, but when you are stick thin and haven't eaten in days after having your soul uprooted form it's home and unceremoniously shoved into another body, you tell me how you feel about begging for food. Yeah, you criticizers. Tell me how you like it.
