It was a pleasant evening. A light cool breeze blew into the face of the girl who stood on the other side of the railing, at the edge of the bridge.
Her eyes are red from how much she cried before she stopped here. Her arms and legs are shaking and more tears are welling up in her eyes.
The 17-year-old girl clutched the edge of her cardigan with her left hand. She bit her lower lip, holding back another sob.
Her pale blue eyes looked down. Into the water. Into the abyss that seemed to her the only way out. The only way to him.
— I'm... I'm sorry... So sorry.
She whispered and, sobbing again, she wiped away the tears that had started flowing from her eyes again with the sleeve of her lavender cardigan. How did it all happen? How can it end like this?
The girl lowered her hands to her seams again, stroking the skin that was exposed with her left hand. She raised her head and looked at the already dark purple sky, which was slowly getting darker.
The girl closed her eyes. That's all. However...
How did it all come to this?

— Lalala... Hee hee~
A 17-year-old girl hummed something cheerful under her breath. She doesn't know the exact lyrics, but she likes the melody more than the lyrics, so she didn't even try.
Saki finished packing her bookbag. It's already the second week since school started, and so far everything is going well; she hasn't even been late once! She wants to keep it that way. This will have a positive impact on her school performance.
The girl stopped in front of the mirror, looking at herself, making sure she looked good. A girl with a good thin figure and pale skin looked back at her from the reflection. Her pale blue eyes sparkled with pride that she looked good, she was considered the prettiest girl in her class. Her dark brown hair falls just below her shoulders, and the bangs, as usual, are swept to the left side.
Saki smiled contentedly and twirled around. A white shirt, a dark grey cashmere vest and a dark red bow tie tied around her neck under the collar was what she wore on top. Dark blue school skirt and white knee-highs. The school uniform looks neat on her and as if it was ironed right on the girl.
She stopped again, facing the mirror, and fastened a hair clip onto her bangs. A small hair clip in the shape of a cherry blossom. A gift from her only best friend.
And also unrequited love. For now.
Saki smiled more softly. She hopes that today he will definitely notice her. As a girl.
She curled the ends of her hair, remembering how she’d once heard that he liked it that way. It had cost her a 6 AM alarm, but it was worth it. The lip gloss on her lips was barely noticeable, the only makeup she wore to school. Her perfume was light and sweet, almost imperceptible. She’d overheard once that he liked it that way too.
She looked down at her hands. She felt her heart skip a beat just thinking about him. She simply had to confess to him today! Or at least hint that she liked him... The last attempt at confession ended in an awkward failure. She still blushes at the memories of last year and—
— Darling! Breakfast is ready!
The girl heard her mother's voice coming from somewhere downstairs, or rather from downstairs in the kitchen. She looked at the closed door of her room. Chuckling, the girl replied:
— I'm coming, mom!
The girl looked at herself in the mirror for the last time. Everything was fine. Perfect, even. He should like it. She's a little nervous because they rarely go to school together these days. But everything will be different on this day, right?
Saki grabbed her bag and left the room. After leaving her bedroom, she closed the door behind her, and the room was filled with peace and quiet as she headed to breakfast in high spirits.
And only through the window that was left open for ventilation, a warm breeze made its way into Saki’s room.
