Luna Moonglow always felt a little different. While her classmates played hopscotch and traded lunch box secrets, she preferred to roam the tangled paths behind her house, where shadows danced under the silvery glow of the moon. Tonight, the full moon hung low in the sky, casting its light like a blanket over the world, and Luna felt its pull in her chest, like a secret whisper only she could hear.
At home, her dad, Kevin, was chopping vegetables in the kitchen, while her step mom, Sarah, hummed softly as she set the table for dinner. They were nice enough - often laughed at her jokes and asking her about her day - but sometimes Luna felt like a puzzle piece that didn't quite fit in their picture. She loved them, but the magic of the night called to her more fiercely than any family dinner could.
As she cross legged on the cool grass, tracing the constellations with her finger, she whisper their names like a spell. "Orion..... Lyra..... Cassiopeia...." There was something about the night that made her heart race, something that made her feel alive. Yet, questions swirled in her mind, questions that just danced out of reach: Why am I so different? Why can't I shake this feeling that I belong somewhere?
Suddenly, A soft, melodic sound floated through the air, tugging at her curiosity. It was like a bunch of lullabies, sweet and haunting, beckoning her pepper deeper into the woods. Intrigued, Luna stood, her bare feet brushing against the cool earth, and stepped further into the shadows, where the twisted together like ancient guardians whispering secrets.
"Luna!" a voice broke through the stillness. It was Alma, her best friend, running toward her with a look of concern that made Luna smile. "What are you doing out here? You're going to get lost!"
"I heard something," Luna replied, glancing back at the path that was slowly disappearing in the twilight. "It sounded... magical."
Alma rolled her eyes, but there was a hint of worry in her voice. "You and your imagination. Come on, let's get back before your dad and Sarah start to freak out."
But Luna hesitated, feeling an electric tingle in her fingers. "Just a minute," she said, stepping closer to the source of the sound. It grew louder now, a harmonious echo that sent shivers down her spine. "I have to see what it is."
Before Alma could protest, Luna followed the sound, weaving between the trees as the moonlight illuminated a clearing ahead. There, in the center, lay an ancient bow, shimmering with silver and adorned with intricate carvings of celestial patterns. It looked like it had been plucked straight from a legend.
Luna's heart raced as she approached it, feeling a strange connection. "This is... beautiful," she breathed, reaching out to touch the bow. The moment her fingers grazed its surface, a jolt of energy surged through her, and the air crackled with magic, like static electricity before a storm.
"Luna, wait!" Alma shouted, but it was too late. A blinding flash of light erupted around them, enveloping them in a swirling mist. Luna felt weightless, as if she were being lifted from the ground, and then—everything went dark.
When the light finally faded, Luna found herself standing in a vast, moonlit meadow, surrounded by tall grasses that shimmered like stars. In front of her stood a woman cloaked in silver, her hair cascading like a waterfall of night. Luna recognized her instantly—the goddess from her dreams.
"Luna Moonglow," Artemis said, her voice a melodic whisper that echoed in the stillness. "You are destined for greatness, but darkness stirs. The bows of my brother and I have been taken, and only you can restore balance."
Luna's heart raced. "Me? But I'm just... just a girl."
Artemis's gaze was piercing yet reassuring. "You are so much more than that. It is time for you to embrace who you truly are."
