Chapter 3: The return part 2

Atticus then looked at her confused. "What? Since when do you have to marry?" He asked.

"Since today apparently when my brother is engaged to your sister. It sucks. I don't want to...he's not even my type, i just got with him because my father wanted me to have a successful husband. I mean he looks like topper no offence!"

Phoebe complained as Atticus smiled and as he began to lie back he looked at phoebe with a smile on his face. "Don't worry...if they try to make you marry any asshole that you don't want to I'll step in."

She began to laugh as he pulled a piece of her hair behind her ear. Phoebe felt his hand and how cold it was. "Atticus ...can I ask you something?" Phoebe said as Atticus nodded. "Do you think you'll ever marry? Step up or whatever?"

She said, as Atticus started to grin. "Yeah..I mean if I find the right girl and she'll love me for who I am, then maybe...how about you?"

"I don't think I will. I mean, I'm not the type to settle down. And my studying law Is my passion. I just don't think I have it In me." Phoebe admitted as Atticus just stared at his best friend, who was just staring at the ceiling. "I just can't believe that I got cheated on. Me! Like I'm way better than my sister right?" Phoebe asked, looking at him.

"Oh yeah definitely. Total smoke-show." He said flirtatiously.

"Exactly! Thank you. I just don't understand why he would do that? Let alone with my sister? Could he be any more stupid? Especially when my sister has a reputation." Phoebe said more annoyed than ever.

"I just want to get revenge. At least so that it makes me feel better."

Atticus than thought of an idea. "I mean how far do you wanna go?" He asked raising a brow as Phoebe turned to look at him annoyed.

"What do you mean?" She said. Atticus then got up as reached his hand out to her.

"Do you trust me?" He asked.

"Absolutely not." She says looking at him intensely whilst taking his hand. He then placed his hands on her face and gently kissed her. He then broke the kiss, staring at her pulling a piece of her hair behind her ear.

"Why did you do that?" She asked briefly.

Atticus then breathed deeply. "There you go."

Phoebe then looked at him confused, "what?"

Atticus then smiled. "You can now tell everyone that you and I hooked up, and I'll totally back you up." He said flirting jokingly.

"What? We didn't though." She said casually.

Atticus sighed. "But They don't know that though..do they?" Phoebe then showed a faint smile.

"Why are you doing this?"she asked with suspicion.

"What are best friends for?" He smiled. "And besides, if anyone says anything I'll break their jaw." He said proudly.

Phoebe laughed. "You're an actual weirdo."

"Uh huh." He said grinning. She then hugged him, glad that in her time of need he was always there.

"I'm really glad you're here." She says softly as he hugs her back. Atticus then takes a dart from phoebe's set and aims it perfectly on the dot of George's picture.
