He smiled with a little giggle under his breath.
"I'm flattered, and dare I say I'm a fan of his as well, and yours too, of course," he said to Cody, causing us to laugh.
"I have to say, Darby, you've improved since we last met," Cody complimented.
"Well, I'll be honest, I had something to prove to myself this match, and I wanted to put in some extra effort."
"You certainly accomplished that," I noted before growing a mischievous smirk. "Plus, I must say, behind that face paint, you're quite Dashing."
Cody narrowed his eyes at me from that reference as Darby held in laughter.
"Seriously?"
"Hey, I mean, at least he's never hidden it under a mask," I continued to poke fun, causing him to roll his eyes before Darby chuckled.
"So, tell me about this new company," Darby says to bring us back on topic.
So we found an area where we could have some privacy to talk. Then, we began to talk, and I did have to explain about the whole dad thing since both my dads are part of the company. I didn't go into much detail, especially since I really didn't want to, nor did I find it necessary. Plus, I don't want to tell everyone my story, especially someone I just met, even though I do find him cute.
After we got done talking about the company and what we were hoping for, he looked excited about what he was hearing, especially when Cody got to the part about creative freedom being a major goal in this promotion. Cody gave him his phone to contact him for an answer and reminded him that we know he is under contract right now with this company and doesn't mind waiting if he wants to stay until it ends, that there will be a spot for him waiting until then. Given the look on his face, he was very ecstatic, it brought a smile to my face.
"Even though I ain't the person to talk to about hiring, I can give you my number as well," I suggested. "If anything, I would love to be friends. You seem like a cool dude," then I whispered loud enough for Cody to hear. "I can make sure that he and the other wackos hire you."
We both laughed as I saw Cody give me a mischievous glint. I couldn't help but laugh.
"Well, we better get going. You have our numbers," Cody said, "Think about it, don't agree right away. We don't want you to regret the discussion, but we would love for you to join us."
He smiled.
"I think I already made my choice," he said with confidence laced in his voice. "You had me at the creative freedom part."
I laughed.
"I understand, not a lot of companies give that, even for someone in my position," I said.
He seemed a little concerned and sympathetic by what that meant, but he didn't press, just nodded with what I assumed was understanding.
"Anyway, I'm sure you're wanting to get home and everything now," Cody guessed. "So, think it over, keep us updated, and we'll be in touch."
"You got it," Darby nodded before shaking hands with us. "Thanks for coming to the show."
"Thanks for the awesome match," I told him as we shook hands. "I hope to see more of them."
He seemed flattered by that remark, and I meant it. With a final nod to each other, Cody and I departed, leaving the Daredevil wrestler to himself as he watched us leave. I could feel his eyes on us as we walked, me in particular. I felt tempted to glance back at him but was too nervous. I just kept my eyes forward as we kept walking, making our exit from the arena.
