**Author's notes**

I feels as if y/n's views here at the beginning aren't necessarily correct. I feel like she would start off as someone very rigid in her views, but then changes her mind later, so you can hate on her a little at the beginning.
See I even put down "Women can be mean for good reasons" actually referring to the way y/n is at the beginning of the story, she wants what's best but she is not seeing the full picture here.

**end of author's notes**

Ever since you were a little kid, you were always surrounded by women, even if you were the descendent of the great Speedwagon family, the ones behind the foundation? Yeah the big super rich family that funds a lot of stuff? I'm sure you've heard of it... Was what you said to any guy trying to intimidate you into going out with them.

You never really were close with many guys because the way they approached you was tasteless, and honestly you could not fathom how any of them got any girls at all. Girls on the other hand, were much more pleasant. Always so polite and helpful, even if they were to be mean, their heads were on the right place. A girl points out how your makeup is ugly? They just want you to fix it so that you can go out in public, a guy does the same? Well, they wouldn't because they can't tell if you ARE using makeup whatsoever, they just think you're ugly and they'll let you know that. That being said, some people are always wrong regardless of gender.

So when your close group of girls started talking about this new hotshot guy when you were 15, you weren't too impressed by his stats.

"Oh but y/n he's SO cute! A good rider too! I'm sure he'll win the next race" Emily told you, with her eyes gleaming as she did your eyebrows on your bed.

"Well, that doesn't really warrant the affection of such lovely women in my opinion..." You told her.

"Nothing warrants that for you, y/n..." Elise joined, while still doing her makeup on the mirror of your vanity.

"Not true at all! Clara's new suitor doesn't seem half bad," You paused "He doesn't have much in terms of property, but I doubt he would ever harm her or ever make her sad on purpose... That being said, that Johnny, he lets so many girls praise him and kiss him right in the lips right after his races... I can't possibly imagine that guy being faithful in an actual serious courtship..."

"Oh but that's just a rumor Y/N! You're such a bore..." Emily plucked on of your eyebrow hairs. "Plus, what's the harm on it? We are all young, is it not ok to live a little?"

"Hm..."

-----------Timeskip------------

You met Johnny Joestar eventually, whether it was because of your family getting involved with his at a party, or because your friends brought him to your group seating, you couldn't quite tell, it was difficult to count how many things had gone correctly so that he ended up seating across from you on a circular table where your friends were practically on him.

Looking at his face, you couldn't quite tell what he was thinking, he seemed pleased girls were so interested in him, but he also didn't show it quite like other guys did, perhaps nothing had warranted him to act *like* other guys did, maybe he didn't need to fill a void of loneliness the way others did.

While decently respectful, it nothing notable or exceptional, miles behind every girl in the table for sure; Could you really blame him though? Boys were allowed to be much more crude and vile and still be considered as polite as girls who restrained every ounce of themselves, and so while he was considered polite in the standards of men, he would have been one badly-mannered girl. Perhaps that comparison spoiled the fun of a shiny new boy for you, nothing they did was really good enough, because you started judging them on a scale of whether they would be a good woman or not, and when they didn't meet your standards, it was really all their fault.

Thankfully, your friends were not the type to ignore you for a boy, they continued to converse with everyone on the table as if he wasn't even there, and as he struggled to keep up with the conversation, they included him as any good hostesses would. Eventually you learned he was a star jockey, that the rumors about the unrestricted kissing was a... well... rumors, and that his brother was also a star jockey.

"Was...?" One of your friends questioned.

"Well yes, he died years ago. We are still very saddened by his passing, and so I carry his memory by riding as well."

So the table filled with empathetic words, even from you, as you are not a monster obviously.

"Oh no, it's really fine... I believe he is in a better place now..." He sighed, taking another sip of his drink, and then looking down on it, avoiding eye contact with everyone on the table as they expressed concern.

"The confidence in that statement is not that convincing." You said with eyebrows raised and the corner between your thumb and index finger underneath your nose, the rest of your hand covering your mouth. He looked up at you, as if in disbelief, and when your eyes met, you also realized how inappropriate the  comment was, not at all ladylike, or... Human-like or empathetic at all.

"Y/N!" One of your friends kicked you under the table, you let out a yelp, a well deserved one.

"Ah no, it's fine, she's not... Incorrect." He says, again avoiding eye-contact.

Your friends wouldn't let you hear the end of it that night. And you honestly knew that you deserved it, maybe making assumptions based on someone's gender just makes you into a bitter person, but your ass would not change until much later on, would you?

Even so, that didn't change the luck they had with that boy. The more they hung out with him the more rumors about him seemed to appear, day by day, they seemed to become more and more true. First you heard that he was sacrilegious towards his brothers mementos, then you heard he was becoming more arrogant, then that he slept with every girl in your city (the person who told you this sure forgot you were a girl), and then... curiously... He got kicked out.

And this time, it couldn't have been a rumor, because you had his records. The Speedwagon foundation owned *the motel in the city, and so while studying the company's Hospitality sector's income records, you saw Johnny's name in them. While that initially peaked your interest, that became a concern when Elise came back to your home one day and with her best Sunday dress, (A pink patterned dress that every old person had judged too flamboyant for church), she had told you that she hadn't meant to do anything wrong.

Anything wrong? Wait what's going on? I didn't think you did anything wrong, but now I might...

"Oh Y/N, Y/N Johnny, the famous one, Johnny Joestar, he got shot Y/N, and it's my fault, Y/N it's my fault...." She said with tears in her eyes. What, what, what? Johnny Joestar? Shot? He's famous? Because of you?

You guided her to the sofa of your mansion, your eyes half open from your mid-day nap. She collapsed in your arms, wetting your night gown with those loaded tears.

"We were going to watch that play," She said with a sniffle, "That one with Dorothy Parker, Y/N...", The one I had told her about? Was she not supposed to watch that with me? Regardless-

"And he skipped in line, I asked him to skip, he said he could, he did, and so we came in front of this lunatic kid, and he shot Johnny Y/N! He did! He shot him and Johnny passed out!" At this point she was hyperventilating and crying her eyes out, with the way she was crying you'd think that was her husband. Albeit the guilt of doing that to someone could also have aided in the production of those tears.

You hold her until she is able to be well enough to go to her house by herself, which took quite a few sweets from the pantry and long silent pauses. Right then, even if you knew every girl you knew would be upset at him getting his ass shot, for some reason, you couldn't brush off the feeling that that wasn't the worst thing that would happen... But perhaps your silly woman brain was being stupid and paranoid.
