A new friend?

What were you thinking?! How can you be this cocky!? It's the next night and you didn't find your friend. The reason you weren't scared yesterday was because you thought you'll be by Tanjiro's side at all times! He's the main character and you know he survives Final Selection. But now you're all alone and chances of you dying is real now.

Last night after defeating the eight feet tall demon, you ran into two more. You took them both out with ease and climbed a tree. You used the chain to wrap yourself onto the branch to prevent yourself from falling in your sleep. Then this morning you found a bush of red berries and quickly chowed them all down. And here you are now walking around late at night being scared shitless. But what angers you the most is you weren't there to help Tanjiro defeating the hand demon. You wanted to avenge Sabito and Makomo.

But I think the reason why I got separated is because Tanjiro needed character development when he defeated the hand demon. The universe needed me out of the way for Tanjiro to get his development.

For the second night, you didn't run into any demons. The third night no demons, but you did see a litter of corpses from the other test takers. You spend that night burying their bodies. Fourth night, you fought a two headed demon. After killing them, you discovered they were a pair of siblings that were six and ten years old. The ten year old got diagnosed with an incurable disease and was approached by Muzan. The six year old wanted to be by her big brother's side forever and got turned into one as well. Their bond is so strong that their bodies merged into one. You cried for them after chopping off their heads. Fifth night, you lost Hanabi's pin after fighting an invisible demon. You have a bruise on your left cheek after getting punched by him. That's when your hairpin came flying off. You were forced to retreat when you couldn't win against him. Sixth night, you spent the whole day looking for your pin. Then you cried the entire night after fighting more demons.

Seventh morning, you're still looking around for your sister's pin in the area you lost it. Today's the last day of Final Selection and your last chance of finding it. You have one more hour before joining up with the others. You looked around with all your might, but there was no sign of it. You figure the demon took it as a reward for making you retreat.

"Where is it? Where is it? I need to find it. It's all that I have left of her." You muttered.

You're on all fours crawling around the dirt to dig. Then you broke down. The wisteria hairpin is gone for good. You got careless and you lost a precious momentum. You were too busy crying that you didn't hear footsteps coming towards you. Their silhouette cast a shadow over you, but you still didn't look up. You weren't worried it was a demon since the sun is out.

You suddenly felt a pair of hands grabbing yours and made your palms face up. Then you felt a cooling item on your palms. You open your eyes to see Hanabi's golden wisteria pin on your hands. You look up to see Kanao smiling down at you. Before you could even think, she turns around and begins to walk away.

"Hey, wait!" You called out. You quickly tucked the pin in your ponytail before scrambling back to your feet. Kanao kept on walking, ignoring you. You caught up to her and put your hand on her shoulder. Kanao finally stops walking and turns around to face you. "I just want to say thank you for finding my hair pin and giving it back to me." You smiled. Kanao didn't say anything and kept on smiling. "Um...where did you find my pin?" You asked.

Kanao takes out her coin and flips it. Ah, I see she brought her coin with her. You don't know what it lands on since she's covering the coin. "I found it after killing the invisible demon. It was in his possession when I killed him. I knew it belonged to you so I took it for safekeeping." Kanao answers.

"Well thank you for taking such good care of it." You bowed. "I don't know how I shall pay you back." Kanao nodded while not saying anything. You wanted to hear more from her. "So um...what's your name? I'm (L/N) (Y/N). I want to know the name of the person who found my hairpin." You asked.
