Chapter Eight: Be Careful

Merlin's POV (Third Person)

Merlin didn't know why he kept feeling ill. He didn't quite understand what is going on with his body. He spoke to Gaius and he just fears its some sort of illness he may have caught but he hasn't been able to pin point what yet. So he has to put up with it until he figures out exactly what it is.

Yet something is about to change with one scream from outside Arthur's chambers that reaped through the corridor, piecing Merlin's ears.

Merlin froze from making Arthur's bed. He left the bed half made and rushed towards the door, pulled it open forgetting to lock it behind him and looked down the corridor to find a young looking girl on the floor, holding her arm.

Merlin rushed over to her kneeling down beside her. "What happened?" he asked the girl wondering how he could help her or what she was doing here.

"I was lost, I asked some knights for directions they didn't seem to be pleased to find me here but yet they sent me back towards the exit of the castle but then someone started to follow me, I panicked and ran I got here and then it attacked me. I do not know what it was," the girl said looking really confused and shell shocked.

"It will be okay, I can get Gaius to look over your arm. He is a very good physician," Merlin says softly to her.

She looks at Merlin with even more confused eyes but then she seemed to smile and the look vanished, "That would be very nice of you."

Merlin helped her to her feet and he took her to Gaius's. When he arrived Gaius was pottering about like he always does and Isabelle is sitting up to the bench enjoying what looks like to be Merlin's berries, he frowns. He had been looking forward to those later.

"Gaius this girl is hurt," Merlin says as he arrived near him.

Gaius looked up from the book he had his nose in and looked upon Merlin and the girl beside him. He studied the girl for quite some time before doing anything.

"It's a simple cut."

He grabbed a cloth and a bottle of liquid and made the girl sit down next to Isabelle and he applied the cloth with the liquid on it before putting some cloth around her arm. "It should heal within a day or two keep that on it you should be fine. Now may I ask where you have come from?" he questions.

The girl looks at Gaius, "I have come from a very long way, I had too. My name is Rue and I can not leave Camelot until my task is done," she spoke a lot more differently to how Merlin had first met her. Which he found quite strange.

"But yet you already know that Gaius but you have helped me anyway?"

"I believe you do not wish to do this do you?" he questions the girl.

"No."

"Well be on your way and make your decision but be warned I will do what ever it takes to protect Merlin."

"I understand Gaius," she nods before she leaves the chamber leaving Merlin completely confused.

"What just happened?" Merlin and Isabelle ask at the same time.

"Do not worry, Merlin. Let's hope we do not see her again.

"What if I do?"

"Be prepared to protect yourself from her."

"She is only a girl," Merlin says confused.

"Yes but a very powerful one. Be careful who you meet Merlin anyone of them could wish you dead. Many people have come to know who you are."
