This is not smart

I didn't care how many people were standing around us, right now all I want is Lewis.

~

I'm standing in the Mercedes garage, the race has just started. Not such a good start for Lewis. Russell had collided with his front wing so he had to come to the pit stop. I feel the tension in me, I know Alex is probably here somewhere too.

The race is in full swing. Lewis is now fifth and is very passionate about it. His techniques and statistics are all correct. The last 10 laps start, but then suddenly two drivers compete against each other. The atmosphere changed. Charles, who was second, had collided with Max. Due to the incident, Lewis was now third.

The race is over, Lewis finishes on the podium. We flow to the stage. There stands Lewis, but Lewis was not the only one standing there. Not far from me I saw Alex smiling at me with a grin. From Lewis' facial expression I notice that I am not the only one who has noticed him. He tries to remain neutral, but that doesn't quite work.

Once back at the Mercedes garage.

"What is he doing here?" he asks angrily without looking at me. Charles was now also with us.

"He was there yesterday too," Charles exclaims.

This is not smart. Lewis looks at me with wide eyes.

"You saw him yesterday and you didn't tell me anything," Lewis says worriedly. I don't feel like having this conversation so I decide to leave for a while.

"Are you really going to run away now?" I still hear Lewis say in the distance.

I went into town for a while after the race. I went into nice shops and bought a few things. I decide to return to the apartment. Upon arrival I open the door. Just when I thought my day couldn't get any worse I hear a feminine voice laughing. When I step inside I see that Isabella, the woman who made fun of me yesterday, is sitting at the table. I step inside, completely shocked by the fact that she is even here. She looks at me and gives me a challenging smile.

"Hey, Lily," she says with a grin.

My eyes glow at Lewis. He only smiles vaguely. I ignore her and walk further into the room. I see Lewis looking at me. Just as I want to go to another room so I can get away from her, I hear Lewis standing up. I still can't look back.

The tension in the room is palpable. I feel Lewis's eyes burning into my back.

"What is this, Lewis?" I ask without turning around, my voice shaking.

"It's not what you think," Lewis says softly, but you can hear the doubt in his voice.

"No?" I say as I turn around. My eyes meet his.

"Then explain it to me."

"It's... complicated," he begins. What a lame excuse.

"I've heard enough," I say quickly, almost whispering, but firmly. Without looking back again, I walk away, towards the other room.

"Lily, wait," Lewis called from behind me. His voice sounds different, softer, almost pleading. Something inside me tells me to stay standing. I turn around slowly, reluctantly.

"What, Lewis?" My voice is shaking.

His eyes are big. "I know it looks bad, I really do. But you have to believe me, this isn't what you think" He looks briefly at Isabella, who loses her smug smile. For the first time I see doubt on her face.

"Isabella shouldn't be here," he continues.

"She came in unannounced and I wanted to talk it out with her." Isabella sighs, clearly annoyed that her moment of control is slipping away.

"Seriously, Lewis? You're going to spin it like this?" She stands up, ready to leave, but Lewis only focuses on me.

"I don't want there to be secrets between us" he says as he comes closer.

His lips gently touch mine. Jealousy radiates from Isabella. I feel her eyes on us.

"I'm gone," she says angrily. Finally. Lewis and I went out for dinner in the evening.
