Did I really have no choice? Did I have to give up Lily to keep my job? Or should I take the risk, whatever that would mean for everything I'd ever worked for? "I understand, Toto," I said, my voice calm but firm even as my thoughts raced in a thousand directions.~
(still Lewis' POV)
I stepped into the house, my head heavy from the confrontation I just had. My hands were shaking with anger. Lily was sitting on the couch reading a book, her gaze shining directly on me. She gives me a smile, but I couldn't laugh right now. So I looked at her.
"What's wrong? You look so stressed," she said carefully.
"It's nothing" I quickly answer. I didn't want her to know what was going on and what Toto expected from me. But my body didn't seem to understand her words, because I felt a curious look.
"Lewis come on, I can tell when something is wrong with you," she says louder. "What's Real?"I cast my eyes on her. How was I supposed to tell her this. How was I supposed to tell her that I couldn't have her. Not because I didn't want her, but because my career was at stake.
"Lily, it's just not important." I said, my voice louder than expected. "It's not about you, okay? Stop probing."
She looked at me confused. "But I want to know what's going on, Lewis," she said softly, "you don't have to react so angrily for that."
A wave of irritation shot through me. Why couldn't she just understand? Why did she keep insisting?
"Do you really have to get involved in everything?" I said, my voice sharp and loud. "It's my life, my problems. You have no idea what I'm going through and you're not going to be able to change anything."
She was shocked by my reaction. Her eyes wide with fear. It wasn't the way I wanted her to look at me, and I didn't realize that until I heard my own words.
"Lewis... I just wanted to help," she says in a soft voice.I walk towards her side and sit on the couch with her. I put a piece of hair that hangs loose behind her ear. She looks at me with a confused look. She had no idea what was going on.
"Lily," I began softly, my fingers still touching her cheek. "It's really nothing to worry about, just a few things at work"
She half opens her lips as if she's about to say something, but I lean in before she can. I kissed her, slowly and gently, as if this was the last moment we had left. Which was true.
She relaxed against me, her hands finding their way to my chest. This was the only way I could make her feel what I couldn't express in words. I know this is not right and that this is selfish but I couldn't resist.
"Lewis..." she whispered softly as I pulled away from her for a moment to look at her. Her eyes were full of desire. I pulled her closer to me and my hands slid over her back. Every touch felt more intense. I could feel the warmth of her skin through her clothes. I slowly slid my hands to the bottom of her blouse, her eyes searching for confirmation. She nods barely noticeable, her breathing ragged as my fingers gently slide over her skin. I slowly lift her blouse; The garment falls to the floor.
Her lips touch mine again, but this time much more intensely, and we quietly go to the bedroom. Once we get there I put her on the bed
Then we lose ourselves completely in each other
