On this day I get New Shoes
And throw away these worn down blues.
They held me when my knees were weak
After that night she made me feel like a freak.
They carried me when things were great!
When I picked you up for our first date.
They held me up when your mother died.
When my arms were where you sought to hide.
These shoes that carried me through the night.
On that long drive after our first fight.
They held me when I felt alone
On those nights that you weren't home.
They held me as I packed my things.
When I had to sell that engagement ring.
These shoes they saw all these memories.
When I lost the light through shaded trees.
These old shoes helped me soldier through
The days I couldn't stop thinking about you.
Tonight I'll throw these shoes away
And hope new shoes bring better days.
Perhaps new shoes will bring new life.
Perhaps to when I'll meet my wife.
