Chapter 16

A/N: Your outfit above & I'm sorry, my dear readers, for the not regular updates as I've recently got a job, so I'll try and do chapters when I can.)

It's been a few weeks since [Y/N]'s heat has finished. And let's be honest, there was no real hope of Bakugo keeping his well-practiced restraint intact when faced with his omega's needy pleas. He lasted the best of a week before giving into his inner alpha as he went into a rut, then for the next week, the couple spent it in pure primal pleasures and need for one another.

Now marked and mated to one another, their love overflowing, clear to everyone around them that it truly was a match made in heaven for these two people. However, all of Bakugo's friends still can't get over this new lovestruck version of their once grumpy violent friend, [Y/N] has really mellowed him out for the better as it really shows through his hero work. Also [Y/N]'s changed, too. She's more protective over Nori, and more of her mother instincts have been showing.

As things went back to normal for the couple, they decided to rent [Y/N]'s house out as she was permanently moving into Katsuki's house. Nori was overjoyed to hear that [Y/N] would be moving in. The little girl saw her more of a mother now than ever and loved having her around all the time instead of [Y/N] coming over then leaving or staying some nights.

Days soon went by, and everything was back into the normal routine. [Y/N] would get Nori sorted for school before kissing Katsuki as he went out the door for work, then she walked Nori to school before going to work herself. Her business had gotten rather popular recently after a few articles had leeked her and Katsuki's relationship to the public. Everyone now wants to get something from her business, from the fiancé of the famous and popular Pro Hero Dynamite.

Today, [Y/N] was personally going to meet a new client thay wanted her to design a few penthouses in a new building development. It was easy to find as the place was in the middle of town tall and sticks out for all to see. [Y/N] met up with the client before they showed her around the 5 penthouses they wanted to be done. It was supposed to be a quick and easy thing to do. Get the plans, have a look around, then leave, but it didn't go like that.

Out of nowhere, a big bang shook the building before smoke slowly creaped throughout the half finished building. All the training and seeing her parents train her siblings kicked in as she quickly told people to try and get out of the building. The smoke got worse, thick, black, and bellowed out of any open space into the outside while the flames of the soon quickly spreading fire lapped at anything flammable. Coughing, she put the sleeve of her shirt over her mouth and nose as she helped people leave the building.

The fire was quick spreading, and soon as the hero's got on scene, Katsuki recognised what this building was. His mind went straight to you, and panic struck his heart. He just hoped you weren't inside. Ordering all the heroes and sidekicks into action, Katsuki turned to the Bakusquad that worked for his and Eijirou's agency.

Katsuki)"Red Riot, you're in charge! I have to go get my fucking mate out of there!"

Before he could even move Eijirou quickly grabbed the blondes arm and pulled him back, a serious and determined look on his face but Eijirou still had his all famous smile on his face as he reassured his best friend.

Eijirou)"You stay here! You can't think straight! Me and Sero will go save your girl!"

Katsuki's red eyes flicked from Eijirou to Sero before nodding. He knew his friends would do anything to save [Y/N]. They all split ways to deal with the chaos, Katsuki and a few other hero's focused on getting the building clear of people and putting the fire out while Eijirou and Sero went to find [Y/N], hoping to dear god that she was alive and not hurt.

On the inside of the build was thick with black smoke, making it nearly impossible to see much, but it didn't stop them from making their way all the way up to the 25th floor. Both of them split up to search for [Y/N]. Eventually, they made it back to each other, and just as they were going to search the floor above, they heard a faint cough. Eijirou rushed over in that direction, calling out to whoever it was, but what he saw when he got there made his breath hitch.

It was [Y/N].

She was collapsed on the floor, leaning again. The wall covered in black soot and burns covered her right shoulder down to her elbow and up her shoulder to just above her jawline by 3 cm. Her shirt was barely holding together by threads on the burned parts, Eijirou knew what Katsuki would do when he saw [Y/N]'s condition.

He would blame himself.

Sero placed his hand on Eijirou's shoulder, which brought him out of his shock before they both got into action. Sero grabbed a plastic sheet that was for construction and gently wrapped it around [Y/N]'s unconscious form before taping it closed before Eijirou picked her up, and they both carefully made their way out of the building. They quickly took her over to an ambulance that was tending to minor injuries before letting the paramedics attend to her.

A lot of medical terms were thrown about before the paramedics quickly put her into the back and told the two heros which hospital they were taking her to before leaving in a rush. But it was clear as day, it was bad. They both agreed not to tell Katsuki until everything on scene was sorted, and that took another half an hour.

Once Katsuki spotted Sero and Eijirou, but no [Y/N], his heart stopped. His mind went straight to the negative bad thoughts since he realised she was the one he wanted to live his life with. He quickly rushed over to the two heroes before asking questions.

Eijirou)"Calm down, bro. Listen, we found her, she's gone to Mizuka Memorial Hospital. Katsuki, you have to prepare yourself when you see her....it's really bad."

Those words hit harder than he thought would. It felt like a red hot knife stabbed him in the heart, a dreading feeling that he had since he got on scene and remembered you were coming to this very same building complex to meet a clint. Before Katsuki could think properly, he took off in the direction of the hospital, using his quirk to get there quicker. Along the way, he called his mother and asked if she could have Nori after school.

His heart pounded in his ears.

His body felt like it burned on most of his right side.

His mind reeled with all the worse scenarios.

All the complications, injuries, and possible outcomes that could happen.

Then he finally got to the hospital and burst through the ER's doors, breathing heavily and still covered in the soot from the scene he came from. This got him some looks as he quickly rushed over to the front desk and rambled out so quickly that the receptionist didn't understand what he said.

Doctor)"Are you Miss [Y/N]'s fiancé?"

A doctor suddenly spoke up getting Katsuki's attention. The doctor told Katsuki to follow him, and he took him upstairs to [Y/N]'s room where they stood outside looking in through the window while the nurses attended to her burns. Seeing her so vulnerable and almost like she was dead broke Katsuki's heart.

Katsuki)"How.... How bad is it?

Doctor)"She's got 2nd and 3rd degree burns on her neck, shoulder, arm, and on her back a little on her right side. She will have to go through months of recovery, and she will be in extreme pain. The next 48 hours are critical."

Hearing all that made his heart skip a few beats. Katsuki's fists clenched tights as he looked down. He felt shame and disappointment in himself because he couldn't protect his mate from this. He should have made you stay home today because you were already not feeling too well in the first place, but when the spund of a heart monitor flatlining hit his ears, his heart stopped and his eyes flicked up.
