Being different to everyone else has never been a big deal for Kevin, after all, it was all he'd ever known. Right from a young age, he'd been forced to live the lives of others and his flesh bore the marks to show for it.

Now that he was getting older, his life was becoming more... interesting because these duties were now starting to become harder to hide in much the same way as the marks he bore upon his skin. How was he supposed to keep his life and duties apart in a world that just didn't believe in Heaven and Hell anymore?

To look at him, Kevin looked pretty much like the average geeky 13 year old boy - right down to the red hair, freckles and the glasses that looked like milk bottle bottoms and made his eyes look like they took up most of his face, so he'd be very easy to overlook if only it hadn't been for his obsession with the afterlife.

Even before he could walk and talk, the dreams had started - he'd get drawn into a room that looked pretty much like a cinema with only one seat before the big screen... but there would be no movie played out on that screen for him. He knew that he'd be the movie just as soon as the jury arrived and pushed some poor unfortunate down into the chair.

Although the of living out someone else's life wasn't always a bad thing, it often meant that he gained extra scars and tattoos which weren't always easy to explain away, sometimes. they'd fade or with time but other times, he'd be stuck bearing them for a long time or they'd never go away. Fortunately, all his marks so far had been small tattoos and a few scars which were easy to hide. He figured that living out the lives of children who had departed too soon was much easier than doing the same for adults - which seemed like the next logical step now that he was getting older.

The first one that he guessed he'd been born with was a birthmark in the shape of an apple core on the sole of his left foot. He knew that the apple itself depicted knowledge and the fact that is birthmark was a core, he thought was to depict the fact that he had a role to play in rebirth since the seeds of an apple are right there in the core.

He stood against the wall in the cinema room, looking rather like a twisted usher as he waited. He knew the wait wouldn't be much longer because he could feel the change of tension in the air and though he didn't know yet whose life he'd be living, he hoped this one was a good one because he was feeling worn down with the number of bad ones he'd experienced recently.

The boy was wrestled into the chair - though he looked frail and sick, he was putting up a good fight. Kevin guessed he must have been a tough nut for the illness that had claimed his body to crack - and right away, he knew that tonight wasn't going to be a good night for him. This type of reenactment often left him feeling weak and exhausted. Before long, the powerful guards had him bound to the chair and the lights went down. A appeared on the screen that flickered to life before the man and a voice said "Alfred Rodgers, Have you earned your place in eternal peace or eternal damnation?".

At that, this person vanished and Kevin appeared on the screen as baby Alfred. He nestled safely and happily in the arms of his mother - until his father came in when the atmosphere suddenly changed and became charged with the need to survive. Although the woman tried to flee him as hard as she could
