No one's pov
Danny closed his eyes and rubbed his hands over his face the second he closed the door. He dropped to his butt. His back resting against the door as he heard the other man walk away.
He didn't know why he gave him a kiss on the cheek but a part of him told him to do that.
It could be because he actually enjoyed himself or it could be because....well he was going with the first one.
Danny felt a blush when the image of the date came to mind.
He has never had someone try to court him, it was usually him doing the courting.
See Danny didn't care for gender role, he has topped and bottomed for men, but he was usually the one asking the others out on a date and even when he was on the other end, they never did stuffs like that.
He knew it was just one date but it really warmed his heart thinking about it.
But a sad painful moment crossed his mind, he only accepted the date because he was vulnerable especially watching Blake and Gus happily sitting at the couples table.
He told Xavier it was because he wanted him to leave him, but a dark part of him knew it was because he was lonely and he didn't want to feel that.
Danny wasn't opposed to falling for Xavier, infact he wanted to see if the dread headed man could actually pull it off and make him like him.
He stood up from the floor, he dropped his keys onto the counter, Danny took a deep breath and let out a loud sigh.
He had always been cautious when it came to dating, and he wasn't about to rush into anything that might compromise his feelings, he knew he was the one between the three of them who tried to play off the nonchalant act but deep down he was the most vulnerable person in the friendship-the guys knew of that-.
As he began to remove his shoes, Danny's mind wandered back to the date again, for the third time. The picnic date was such a smart idea to plan for a first date especially knowing he was one for eating and Xavier?...Xavier had been charming and attentive throughout the evening, listening to him talk-Danny was a talker, a yapper, and extrovert-, it made a smile break out on his face as images of the look Xavier had when he would talk, even when it was about nothing.
Danny's smile faltered and he let out a sigh again, as much as he appreciated the effort Xavier had put into the date, Danny couldn't help but feel like something was missing. He just didn't feel that spark that he usually felt when he met someone special and it bothered him, especially with the fact that they have known each other for a long time, so there should be a bit of feelings right??!....right?.
As he walked into the living room, Danny's eyes landed on the bookshelf that lined one wall of the room. He loved books, and he spent most of his free time reading and getting lost in the pages of a good novel. As he browsed through the titles, Danny's mind began to wander back to the date.
He thought about Xavier's smile, and how his face lit up when he told him he loved his book, and praised him. When he found out Xavier wanted to pursue writing, it changed his perspective of Xavier, he didn't take him to be a soft type of person-even though Xavier had shown him and only him his soft side-. So knowing the tall nonchalant looking man wanted to be a writer made his stomach fluttered.
He thought about the way Xavier's eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled. And he thought about the way his hands had felt when they accidentally touched his own.
