Instinct alone was what responded to his processing unit associating his optical components input with the probability of a sniper danger. His right hand flew off the wheel and instantly pressed over Mia's mouth instead, pushing her head all the way back against her seat.

A bullet flew by his face, missing him by a margin large enough to make him conclude immediately that he was clearly not the target, and pierced the window to Mia's right. Neither of them had the time to consider how just a millisecond long reaction time window had made the difference between a shattered window and Mia's brains being splattered on the door of the car instead.

While his processing unit was calculating what accurancy would be required of the sniper to hit a target in a moving vehicle, the one hand Connor still had on the wheel felt the exact moment in which the sniper's strategy chanced and a seond bullet was fired right into one of their tyres. Unwilling to let go of Mia should the accuracy of the sniper prove to be even more deadly still, Connor was left defenseless againdt the sliding of the vehicle across the iced and snowed over surface.

One bump in the road was all it took for the car to tip over to right side and slam itself across that edge they have been tiptoeing for a while. The vehicle rolled downhill through the snow, and it did not stop until it reached the very bottom of the delve.

With the metallic sounds conjoined with the shattering of glass ending into a deafening silence, Connor opened his eyes to a system report whose result he immediately dismissed in order to regain his full sight and check on Mia. Seeing her eyes open and blinking was all the reassurance he needed at the moment, so he took his hand off her mouth at last and, though the car was upside down, he made sure to check the sides of her face for any signs of injury.

"Can you move?" He asked. Sure, they were lucky to have survived that accident, but the fact that they did told him all he needed to know about the intelligence and accuracy of the sniper hunting them just then. Nothing about his conclusion brought him comfort though — they needed to get out of there. And fast.

Connor dismissed a second system report without reading, watching closely Mia's reaction to realizing where they were. Fortunately for both of them, it seemed having him immediately talk with her and establish some form of physical contact had spared her the phase of panic after realizing they just had a car crash.

"I think so," Mia finally mustered an answer. "What happened? Did we hit something?"

Of course, Connor realized. She didn't have time to realize someone had to shoot her.

Having that realization only furthered his conclusion that he should not say anything just yet that could alarm her, meaning that it was for the better to not answer those questions of hers until they were both safely out of the car and he had a more solid plan in how to protect her than simply fleeing the sight of the crash.

First, he focused on what his scenario compiling program told him they should be doing next in order to get out of the crashed vehicle. "I'm going to need you to put your hands forward and brace yourself as best you can. I'll take your seatbelt off for you, alright?" Following his own directives, he moved his hand down from her face and to the buckle holding her seatbelt to the chair. "As soon as you are down, I'm going to need you to get through the backseat and open the door on my side of the car to get out."

Given both front windows were fully submerged underneath fresh snow, neither of those doors seemed like a viable option for them to make it out through, leaving only the backseat as an escape route. The door right behind him should turn the car itself into a cover should the sniper have aimed to get them out in the open in order to get a clearer shot, though Connor's suspicion was that the goal had been to strand them to the location so their pursuer may come down and finish his mission with less of a margin of error interfering with his efficiency numbers.
