Another funeral. That's all Kai could think about when he was told the official date of Beomgyu's. These were starting to become so common he felt almost numb to them.

In contrast, Yeonjun's emotions were bleeding through. The original funeral organizer was fired after he learned it was the same one who worked on Soobin's. As a result, he assumed the responsibility of doing everything himself.

The stress was getting to him. At first, everyone in the mafia wanted to attend. That put the guest list at over 100. Then, his business associates wanted to attend too. It quickly went from a simple funeral to a networking opportunity. Yeonjun's patience, even around the blonde, became razor thin.

Kai hated seeing him like this so he took over the guest portion. An original list of 300 was in his hands. His pen tapped against the clipboard. Realistically, 300 would be fine for a reception. It was the burial that was the problem. He called the director and asked how many were allowed in the cemetery. After he was told 50, he drew a star next to his name, Yeonjun's name and Taehyung's name. A screenshot was then sent with a text saying "choose 47 more names. The rest can attend the reception and if anyone complains, tell them to go fuck themselves."

Taehyung grinned when he was shown the text. "That makes it easier. Do you want me to choose the others?"

"No." Yeonjun stepped out to call his boyfriend, leaving his second alone to make the rest of the decisions. The two were at an expensive Italian restaurant. A Black Hound favorite. It was also a particular favorite of Beomgyu's for dates. There wasn't a better place to honor him than there.

After securing the building, they started discussing the menu. Taehyung treated this as another opportunity to prove himself. Samplings of salads, appetizers, entrees and desserts were laid in front of him. The good part was that everything was going to be served family style. Every table would the same meal which they could pass around and share. The bad part was that he had to choose things everyone would like and for a guest list of 300, that seemed impossible.

"Definitely not him." Yeonjun wasn't a smoker but he was definitely considering on starting after seeing a guy light one across the street.

"Alright. Just 50 more to go." Kai scratched through an entire page of names. He was starting to question why some people were invited to the reception if the thought of their presence seemed to irritate his boyfriend. "How about Jeongin? If I'm saying that correctly?"

"He can go. That's fine." The funeral was merely a week away. Time was running out. "I have an hour after this before the meeting with my lawyer. You wanna do something?"

"What did you have in mind?"

"I don't fucking know. Fucking? Driving? Fucking then driving? I could use a god damn drink too."

"Drink at the end of the night babe." Kai wrote out the finished list then sent it over to the older and the funeral director. "And as much as I love having sex with you, I'd rather help you instead."

"Fucking me is helping me." For the first time all day, Yeonjun smiled from hearing the blonde laugh in his ear.

"Let me do some of it for you. Use me."

"Oh, baby, I fully plan on using you. You'll see."

"Yeonjun!"

"Fine. I'll give you a list."

"Thank you. See you soon and don't eat too much!"

Yeonjun hung up feeling a little better than before. There was something he had been putting off for a while and since Kai actually wanted to help, he figured it wouldn't hurt to give it to him. "The key to Beomgyu's house is in the stone under my mailbox. Can you organize his stuff? I'm sure most of it is garbage but it would really help."

"Anything I need to be particularly concerned about?"

"Not really. Honestly, most of it is guitars and vinyls. He didn't hold onto much due to the nature of his job."

"Good to know. See you later babe."

"See ya." Yeonjun went back inside of the restaurant to see Taehyung arguing with the chef. His stress was back. Boss mode went back on as he demanded "what's going on?"

Taehyung quickly explained "we told him no seafood and there's a seafood soup and a shellfish stock in one of the risottos."

The chef argued it was a best seller. Yeonjun wasn't interested. His hands curled into a fist while the corner of his lip turned upwards. "Listen. I'm sure this was all a misunderstanding. Beomgyu Choi didn't eat it in his lifetime so we won't be to honor him in death." A large knife slipped from his pocket. "Would you like me to make it clearer or can we move on?"

"We can move on."

"Good." Yeonjun looked at his second with the same amusement as he did with the chef. "Is the menu finalized with the issues resolved?"

"Yes."

"Excellent. Pay the man and let's go."

Kai stood outside of a much smaller house than he anticipated. Two stories, all black, light wood edging and a little stone sculpture garden in the front. It felt weird going towards it. A security camera followed every motion he made. Beneath the electronic keypad laid a keyhole for emergencies. Automatic locks clicked. Gears turned from within the thick doorframe until they finally allowed him inside.

Yeonjun was right. Beomgyu didn't hold onto much except for musical pieces and the occasional photograph. If it wasn't for those items, the house would've looked like a display for an open house viewing.

Upon touch, he realized that despite the simple appearance, everything in there was exquisitely made. The white couch had an 100% Egyptian cotton cover. The curtains, despite being the same off-white, were thick enough to blackout the sun. Kai was nearly blinded when he pulled them open.

Wind blew snow off of the edge. White rays shown down on the dead bonsai tree sitting on the center table. The shelf beneath it laid a photo of Beomgyu and Taehyun with their arms around each other's shoulders. Both were in classic Black Hounds gear. More importantly, both were smiling like they were having the time of their lives.

Kai wondered what happened between them. Beomgyu must've regretted it if he kept the photo around. He then wondered if Taehyun had the same regrets too. The tree was tossed into a garbage bag. The picture was placed into a box marked "important". After labeling a few more, he started the long task of organizing the rest.
