Melanie Jayne knocked on Victor's bedroom door slowly and opened it.
MJ: You have a visitor, Mr. Keel.
Victor smiled when he saw Melanie Jayne at his door.
Victor: Melanie Jayne!
Melanie Jayne hugged Victor and sat on his bed. Victor hugged her like he wasn't going to let her go.
Victor: I've been missing you so much. (kisses Melanie)
MJ: (caressing Victor's face) How have you been? You look better today. (smiles)
Victor: I'm always better when you're with me.
Victor noticed that Melanie Jayne looked like she had been crying.
Victor: Are you alright? (caressing Melanie's face) Did someone make you cry? What happened?
MJ: (sniffles) Nothing happened, Victor Keel. I just had a bad dream. I fell asleep in the car.
Victor: You must be tired. (holds Melanie's hand) You didn't have to come see me, Melanie Jayne. I was actually thinking of going to school tomorrow. (kissing Melanie's hand) I hate thinking about you being alone in school during lunch breaks.
Victor pulled Melanie Jayne in and hugged her.
MJ: You should probably rest tomorrow, Victor Keel. And the day after that as well......
Victor looked at Melanie Jayne and caressed her face. She had tears running down her face.
Victor: Was it the dream you had? (hugs Melanie) It's just a dream, Melanie Jayne.
MJ: Becky told me that the whole school knows what happened to you......What happened, Victor Keel?
Victor took Melanie's hand. He was a little hesitant to tell her what exactly happened but he couldn't bring himself to lie. Not to her.
Victor: They erm......They cornered me in the washroom. They dunked my head into a sink full of water. And then, they erm......They tried to rip all of my clothes off but I managed to get away. That's why I didn't have my jacket with me when you got to me. One of them grabbed me from behind my head and threw me out into the hallway. (starts to cry) They erm......They beat me up in front of everyone in the hallway.
Victor cried. Melanie Jayne hugged him and cried with him.
MJ: I should have gotten to you sooner......
Victor: (crying) It's not your fault, Melanie Jayne. I wouldn't have wanted you to see what they were doing to me......
Melanie Jayne stayed with Victor on his bed. They just held each other and cried. Melanie Jayne was worried about Victor's safety. She didn't want him to go to school until she took care of the boys who did this to him.
Victor: Did anything happen in school today?
Melanie Jayne looked down like she was trying to not tell Victor about the note.
Victor: Melanie Jayne, you have to tell me. Did something happen to you? Did they hurt you too?
Melanie Jayne shook her head.
MJ: They left a note under my desk. I've given it to Jean. He took it to the police. I know that they're not gonna do anything about it. Well, not until something actually happens. (looks at Victor) I'm gonna take a copy of the report and the note to the principal tomorrow. Jean said that there may be a high chance that he's not gonna do anything about it either.
Victor: I can't let you go to school alone tomorrow, Melanie Jayne. (holds Melanie's hand) I was gonna just drop out from the sports team tomorrow. No one will harm us ever again.
That was not something Melanie Jayne would let Victor do because she wasn't the type to give up easily but she understood that Victor was now worried about her safety just as much. Whatever those boys did to him was bad. It was so much worse than when he was getting bullied and pushed around. Melanie Jayne knew she had to change her plans now. There was no way she would be able to physically take on the school sports team on her own at this rate.
Victor walked out into the living room with Melanie Jayne and sat beside her on the couch. He was holding her hand when Jean and Warren walked into the house.
Warren: Miss Anderson, Jean told me about the note you got today. I strongly do not suggest you go about this alone. In fact, I think you should just walk away right now. It's not worth you getting injured or anything. I'm sure Victor wouldn't want you to get hurt. I wouldn't want you to get hurt. Jean, especially, wouldn't want you to get hurt.
Melanie Jayne looked at Jean. He gave her the look like he was agreeing with Warren on this.
Jean: Remember I told you about picking and choosing your opponent? This might just be a good time to walk away before anything severe happens to you or Mr. Keel.
MJ: What do you suggest we do, Jean? Stay at home? Victor Keel said he was gonna tell the coach he was gonna drop out from the school team tomorrow.
Warren: I'll go see the coach and the principal tomorrow. Victor will stay at home. You can stay here with him if you want to. We'll get your books and you can study here. Jean told me that the principal said that he's not Victor's guardian to be getting involved with this so, I'll go to the school tomorrow. Does that sound good?
Victor: Sounds like a plan.
Melanie Jayne held Victor's hand and nods. Jean smiled. Melanie Jayne and Jean stayed on till dinner that night. After dinner, Jean and Warren sat outside on the porch for some beer while Melanie Jayne helped Victor get ready for bed.
Victor: I wish you didn't have to leave.
MJ: (smiles) I think I need a shower.
Victor: I can't wait to see you again tomorrow.
MJ: Me too.
Victor: You didn't tell me about your bad dream.
MJ: It uh......It's nothing. I think I was just overthinking everything. I spent so much time planning so many things today. My brain must have been over working.
Victor kissed Melanie Jayne and hugged her.
Victor: We're gonna be ok, Melanie Jayne. As long as we stay here together, we're gonna be ok.
Melanie Jayne smiled and kissed Victor goodnight. She knew Jean had gotten her the things she needed on the list she gave him earlier that day. She just needed to decide what to do next. She was worried about Victor and she didn't want to disappoint Warren. Maybe laying low was a good call after all.
