It was early morning. Melanie Jayne was already in school. She was in the office. Jean said he wanted to speak to the principal so he sat there, pretending like there was a problem with Melanie Jayne. He was actually buying her time so that she can access the school servers. She needed information on each and every one of the athletes who beat up Victor. It wasn't a very secure system and all the information she needed was obtained within minutes.
Melanie Jayne got up and told Jean she was late for class so she left. Jean went ahead to see the principal and spoke to him about Victor and how he was getting bullied in school. He was told that as much as it was unfair for Victor Keel to be victimized in such a manner, Jean wasn't his guardian and he may be stepping out of line by trying to defend Victor Keel. Jean smiled and stood up. He apologized for trying to help a student in need and left.
He was beginning to understand why Melanie Jayne was constantly taking things into her own hands. She was the only friend Victor Keel had in school and she was the only one who was willing to stand up for him. Jean was now eager to help Melanie Jayne execute her plan. He just had to make sure she would be safe through it all.
Melanie Jayne was in class. She was quiet and she was writing things down in her little notebook. Becky was looking at her from her desk. She knew Melanie Jayne was up to something. She always had this look in her eyes whenever she was planning something. This was a little more worrying because she was aware that Victor Keel wasn't in school that day.
After a few minutes, Becky decided to walk over to Melanie Jayne's desk to talk.
Becky: Hey....... You ok?
MJ: (still writing in her notebook) Yeah. Why do you ask?
Becky: What uh...What are you workin' on there? You writing a love note to farmboy?
MJ: (smiles) Mmmhmm......
Becky nods and smiles.
Becky: Ok......Is he alright?
MJ: Why wouldn't he be alright?
Becky: (looks around and whispers to Melanie) I heard what happened to him yesterday. That's why you left school early.
Melanie Jayne stopped writing and looked up at Becky.
MJ: You knew?
Becky: The whole school does. Those boys dragged him out into the hallway from the boy's washroom. His face was bleeding slightly and......I think they did something to him in the washroom. He didn't break anything, did he?
MJ: Tell me, Becky. What did he ever do to them to deserve such things done to him?
Becky: It's the school jocks, Melanie Jayne. You don't mess with them.
MJ: How was Victor Keel messing with them? He tried out for a sport he was really good at? Talk about good sportsmanship.
Becky: Please, Melanie Jayne. They are senior boys. They need all the credits for college. You know how it is.
MJ: (looks at Becky and smiles) Oh, I do know how it is.
The class teacher walked in and classes began. When it was lunch time, Melanie Jayne walked out to where Jean parked the limo. Jean gave her a sandwich and a box of juice and sat with her on a bench.
Jean: So, any progress?
MJ: Did you know that those assholes did something to him in the washroom and then dragged him out onto the hallway. Apparently, everybody in school knew what happened to him.
