Chapter 8 - Classic Case of an Apocalypse [1]

Yoo Sangah shouted from the distance.

"Dokja-ssi! Behind you!"

Dokja reflexively leaned forward as a bloody fist came flying through the air. It was a familiar fist covered with energy.

And right at this moment, Kim Dokja was surrounded by humans infected with black ether. Grade 9 human type, demonic people.

That's why demonic people were classified as a high-risk species, despite being grade 9. Demonic people made from a normal human base were no different from zombies, but it was particularly dangerous if their host were different.

A student in uniform with a damaged head approached, and I immediately knew who it was.

Kim Namwoon. The guy who was supposed to live on WOS but died due to Kim Dokja's interference in the story. Kim Namwoon's vocal cords that burst out were in bizarre shape.

"Kuweeeooooh"

I saw Kim Dokja futilely check the character information of Namwoon, though it wouldn't work, since Demonic people weren't categorized as 'human' or 'character' anymore.

In the end, Dokja was scratched by the demonic Namwoon's overgrown black finger nails.

Demonic people were dangerous for one main reason, it was that they were several times stronger than when they were human.

"Dokja-ssi..!"

My eyes flickered to the worried Lee Hyunsung on my right, concerned for the three as Lee Gilyoung looked ghastly, turning pale from worry.

I let out a sneer as I saw Han Myungoh approaching, with the resisting Yoo Sangah on his shoulder.

This basically meant that he was leaving behind Kim Dokja as a sacrificial lamb in order to preserve his own life.

He was running absurdly fast too considering that he was limping and injured his leg earlier.

When I read this chapter in the novel, Kim Dokja explained that him running unusually fast on one leg couldn't be the exclusive skill of Han Myungoh who had a big belly. Therefore, it must be the stigma of his sponsor.

[The One-legged Swift Horse]

About now Dokja will start to realize that the stigma of 'The One-legged Swift' came from the constellation Lame Trickster, who didn't give any stigmas in the mental barrier system. In addition, Han Myungoh couldn't possibly possess such a skill from the beginning. In other words, Kim Dokja must've realized that his character information skill couldn't possibly work on Han Myungoh, a 'real' person who wasn't registered as a character yet.

Yoo Sangah and Han Myungoh weren't from the original novel, ways of survival, hence it was natural that he couldn't have possibly registered their character information in his skill; which was based off of the knowledge of the novel.

Kim Dokja was now in a predicament, where he couldn't possibly ask help from the people who've already crossed the safety zone across the bridge, nor could he just step in the bridge as it would ultimately cause the death of the three remaining people who have not crossed the bridge yet. It didn't help either that Kim Namwoon and the other demonic people were practically blabbering nonsense, charging towards him.

The soldier besides me continued banging on the walls of the safety zone, calling out for Kim Dokja as he completely forgot about the existence of the frightened kid next to him.

It was indeed, a brutal sight to see Kim Dokja abandoned and basically struggling against the demonic people but, that guy had a real knack for surviving situations in the most unexpected ways. So I wasn't worried at all.
