Five days, Connor recalled the amount of time he had been missing for from Mia's perspective, but even that seemed to be insufficient to stop him from hesitating while his window of reaction was running too close to the moment of imminent contact with a tazer round.
That's where his processing unit stepped in, issuing an update reminder in the corner of his scanner's field of vision, right besides the holster and the gun up for grabs:
Weapon Carrying: Authorised
Weapon Usage: Authorised
Lethal Force: Enabled
Connor needed to see nothing more before grabbing the pistol and firing a first bullet into the neck of the closest man still standing. With the stun effect giving him leisure to only dive out of the way of the tazer rounds the necessary amount and not seek distance that would force him to find another advantage to use, he got up immediately after being out of danger and shot the man with the rifle next, cutting him off before he had the chance to respond lethal force with more of the same.
The last man standing had chosen to act on close combat in order to knock some balance out of the android. When he slammed forward, shoulder into Connor's chest, he anticipated he'd want to disarm him.
Indeed, his left hand wrapped around his, but his right hand was what Connor had become interested in while taking a single half step backwards to regain control over his center of balance and not stagger back all the way: the man's right hand was reaching out for his own pistol.
Without a blink spared by his constantly blue LED, Connor forced his arm to move against the human grip and hooked the barrel of his pistol under the man's chin, instantly firing a bullet.
Threats Detected ... 1
With the update showing in the middle of his interface, Connor let go of the body and turned around, pressing his foot on the hand of the man he had tackled to the ground first. Under the shadow of the barrel he pointed down at his helmet-protected head, the human had no resistance whatsoever in letting go of his attempt at holding the tazer gun up.
"Please," he begged instead, voice shaking.
He must have said more to plead for his life, but Connor tuned out the sound in order to prioritize scanning him thoroughly. Everything from his elated heartbeat to the perspiration he detected traces of on his neck indicated the man was scared for his life. He was no threat.
Threats Detected ... 0
Only after manually overwriting his combat interface detection system did Connor finally lower his gun. "Don't stand in my way again," he warned, well aware such an insinuated threat should have been sufficient to ensure the human will think twice before accepting an order to come after him, and therefore after Mia too.
He looked around at the lab, but not to acknowledge how stark the contrast of crimson red blood came across the white floors, not even to reminisce the times when that place used to be lively and filled to the brim with furniture and memories that him and Mia shared. No, Connor needed to confirm to himself the wall embedded terminal was still there. As soon as he had sight of it, he moved away from the live human, stunned into complete stillness on the floor.
Connor lifted his free hand to the closed terminal screen and removed his synthetic skin from his fingertips before establishing contact.
"What are you...?" The question muttered by the human was left unfinished while, with a single flick to yellow from his LED and a whole lot of blinks accompanying that change, Connor infiltrated the tower system and shut off the power supply. For a brief moment, the lab, much like the entirety of the building, plunged into darkness. The emergency red lights were quick to take over though, and that was when Connor moved his hand off the terminal, resorting to instead checking the magazine of his handgun.
"There has been an emergency reported in the building," a mechanical voice sounded through the speakers in the lab. That same voice was heard throughout the tower, as Connor had made sure to activate a fire emergency protocol in order to cover his tracks of the hack and ensure he won't be held at the exit should he take special interest in being discreet and careful. "Leave the building immediately using marked stairways and exits," the alarm broadcast continued while he tucked the gun at the back of his pants and exited into the hallway. "Do not use elevators." Though he had not paused his walking, Connor begun computing the fastest path out of the building, keeping a tracker to the side of his vision of the average response time before the first fire brigade should get there.
His network search ran in the background, on the backburner of his processing unit's main focuses, had finally completed, thus updating his mission specs to a more specific goal.

AUTHOR'S NOTE |
Dropped a key piece of information in this chapter 👀 thought I should mention that, because I felt really excited planning this through enough to be able to do set-ups already.
Anyway, after a Mia pov chapter, we get a Connor pov chapter and safe to say, they both very much miss each other right now 😭😭
Now, let me fangirl a little over the implications of the dream Connor had 👀 His comfort dream, perfect reality, was basically just being able to be the human partner he thinks Mia deserves. Settling down, having kids. Him enjoying knowing there is no chance for her to be repulsed by his kiss, low-key implying that he expects her to be repulsed if he kissed her as an android. Like, NO, poookieee, she'd never be repulsed by you.
Do androids dream of electric sheep? No, they dream of the ideal, and for Connor, the ideal is to be what Mia needs. ( Hate to break it to him, but he's already the ideal cause he's all she needs, just the way he is )
Okay, imma end my silly ramble here 😅💖 hope you enjoyed this chapter!!
