32. The challenge pt.1

- Flashback

I ran after Liv,but not before giving Jacob a nasty glare. I felt really sorry for my friend. Liv has always been a girl who lives in her imagination; finding a nice guy who likes her,take cares of her,and all the other crappy stuff she reads in her novels. She rarely believes that she might find someone like that in the real world,due to the fact that all guys are the same;well majority of them. Now she has given love a second chance,and that has left her heartbroken..

Again.

I followed her into the tent and when I looked at her,she wasn't looking so good.

"Liv -"

"No Natalie, don't lecture me about love,or being unfortunate,or about Jacob being a douche,or about anything"she said in a high tone,but her voice was very shaky,and she had hiccups

I knew for a matter of fact that she was really hurt. She never calls me Natalie unless she's angry,annoyed or hurt.

"You see why you never give people chances?They ruin things up Natalie! I'm at fault for this. I read books so many times,and they all have the same cycle;the girl falls in love with a guy, sacrifices so much for him and makes time for him,but in the end,she finds out that he's cheating and she's left with a broken heart. My heart isn't broken Natalie. My heart is in pieces,and I can't figure out what piece goes in where or if it stays out,I have no idea!"And with that she sobs out loud and rushes towards me, dropping herself into my arms and crying loudly.

"It's okay Liv"I said as I tried to wipe away my fountain of tears.

"It's not Natalie...it's not. Why am I always the victim?!why?is there something wrong with me?or am I not doing something correctly?!"she cried.

I scrunched up my face and pulled out of the hug,and place her face into my hands

"Listen to me Olivia;you're perfect the way you are. You're beautiful,smart,have a great personality,you're funny and you're the best gift I've ever gotten in my entire life. You're doing everything perfectly,it's just that those idiots don't value your effort. Don't allow anyone;any guy to make you feel like you're worthless. You'll find the one very soon,trust me"I said,and watch as a weak smile spread across her face. We stayed in that position for a while and she has become more heavy than usual. I looked at her and she is sleeping soundly on my lap,still shivering a bit.

I kiss her forehead as she sleeps soundly in her bag. She doesn't deserve any of this,and she will really find someone who'll cherish her more than she'll expect. With a smile on my face,I switch of the lamp and make myself comfortable in my bag,and I fall asleep.

-End of flashback.

It's been two days since the bon fire incident,and Liv has been doing quite well I guess.

Probably she took my advice,and she's trying to move on.

What an amazing friend I am.

Yes she's been grumpy and all,but she doesn't cry that much,well not in front of us.Kayla and Zoe felt so sorry for Liv and went after Jacob. They threatened him not to ever come close to Liv, unless he doesn't want to become a dad. They also gave him a few kicks here and there,which made Liv giggle like her usual self;it wasn't fake,it was genuine. He tried lots of times to come and apologize,but after his beating he stayed away.
I got up and took my toiletries and sports clothes and headed to the shower. Our principal announced to us that we'll be doing an obstacle challenge today,but we haven't picked out a representative for our teams. I just pray that I'm not going to be involved in anything because I'm not ready to exercise in any way.

"Alright people it's time to stretch those bones and have some fun"the principal said.
A lot of us groan at the statement
"I know you guys would prefer to sit your lazy butts on the couch and stare at your screen all day,but guess what?Today is not that day"he chuckles at his own joke but only the teachers laugh.
"Alright so each tent is going to pick a representative for the big challenge. Remember the rules;no cheating,no pushing,just winning!If anyone gets hurt we brought Nurse Thelma along. In the next ten minutes I expect everyone's representatives to be at the starting line"Mr Jeremy walks off to meet the rest of the teachers.I turn around to look at Zoe,Kayla and Liv giving me sly smirks and I immediately understand what their doing..
"Nope"I say and walk out.
"But please Nat...you're an amazing runner and oh you're an athlete too"Zoe says.
"Uhm no I'm not"I say walking away but Liv pulls me back.
"You know I can't do it Nat..I just got my heart broken"she says pouting.
"Oh so now you're blackmailing me?!"I roll my eyes.
"Just stop being grumpy and do it"she pushes me towards the starting line,then gives me a cute smile then waves at me. I roll my eyes and walk to the line and my face goes sour when I see Bianca squatting right beside me.

Yay

"And you are?"she says looking at me like she's looking at a virus.
"Whatever you classify yourself to be"I say.
"A princess?"she bats her eyelashes
"No...a blonde bee-itch"I say with a smirk and she gasps.
"This is why Nate left you for me"she smirks.
"Nope he didn't...we're just having a little couple issue but you would never understand because you're extra single"I say in a mocking tone.
"Nate is mine"Bianca says..
"Whatever crazy Queen Been"I say.
She's about to say something but Mr Jeremy blows a whistle and she squirms.
"Wow...are you sure you can even run?"I tease.
"Ha ha ha...that's so funny"she says.
I roll my eyes and squat beside the other 5 girls representing their tents.I watch as 5 boys join another starting line not far from ours. I wasn't looking at anyone's face except one person and you all know who it is.He gives me a cold stare and it sends chills down my spine but I don't want him to know that he has an effect on me.
"The boys will run 10seconds after the girls have left. As you can see we chose the strong ones"Mr Jeremy smirks and a lot of people cheer. I hear the girls screaming my name but I wave at them and shake my head.
"On your marks....get set....ready?"
I look at the road ahead and pray that I don't fall.
"Go!!!"

Five minutes into the race and I'm already panting like a fat chicken.I just hope I win because Bianca is right behind me and I know that witch.
"Heyy Natalia"she says running right next to me
"What do you want?"I roll my eyes and pick up the pace
"Oh nothing...it's just that Nate is right behind us"she smirks
"Obsessed much?"I say
"Yes I'm obsessed like why not? He's really handsome and fit so of course I'm obsessed"
A tiny pinch of jealousy hits me but I don't care
Not like he's my real boyfriend or anything
"Wow Bianca I never knew you pay attention to people' partners so much"I say
"He's actually mine,I just borrowed him to you for a while"she giggles and I feel some rage in my veins.
"He's not a toy you blonde"I say and she gets out of her own lane and pulls my hair.
"What was that for?!!!!"I ask really pissed.
"Oh nothing really.That was just the beginning"before I could even ask her what she's talking about she pushes me and I fall and roll into the nearby river.My leg hits a rock in the water and I wince in pain
"What the hell Bianca!!!"I yell at her
"Oh nothing Talia. Just want to have my way as always"she says and walks away.
Then it clicks in my head;
I can't swim so deep
Fear engulfs my body and I start crying for help but no one comes. I go deep into the water and the last thing I see is a figure jumping in to help me. Relieved that someone was there,I stop fighting with the water and I pass out.

I know it has been a really long while but I'm really sorry,life has really been taking me for so many rides...exams here and there,personal problems and so much more. But I'm glad to be back!:)

Oh before I forget happy Easter everyone!!
