A man stood staring at one of the few archive pieces that hung on the wall of the building. He seemed almost zoned out as he stared.
What was so interesting about the piece? Surely nothing engrossing or that man would have a better response. Despite the lack of reaction, the pink hair individual made his way over next to him. They both stand in silence looking at the big words. That was until the man suddenly stated, without looking away.
"Isn't it interesting?"
It was quiet for a moment, "I suppose.. I'm not sure what it even means... these works are older than the building itself I'm sure." Lillard replied to the older soul before him. "Well it's in the Archival so it must be important. I used to come here everyday when I was younger.. heh well I guess I never stopped," He smiles now to himself then turns to the other with him. "What brings you here my dear?"
Why was he here? It wasn't like he hasn't been here before. Everyone knows the Archival is a very important historical place you must visit at least once before you finish schooling. Once you've been a few times though you get the overview of it all. No need to visit again since they never add to it anymore.
"No where else to go" He simply stated then looks over to him, "And you?" The man laughed looking back to the words on the wall. "We are in the same boat dear but I'm afraid it's no good for me anymore.." Lillard looks puzzled now. "Huh?.. why not?" Ignoring the question Dewwy shuts his eyes.
"Will you read this to me?"
"You-.. you want me to read to you?..."
"You don't have to dear.. it's alright if you refuse" Lillard gave him a bit of a questioning look before accepting, "no no.. I'll.... I'll read it to you.." Dewwy smiles and opens his eyes looking at Lillard. He gets a bit flustered as he clears his throat and begins to read to the man.
It was peaceful. Just the two of them as Lillard reads the archived words. Nothing too interesting to himself but Dewwy looked pleased. His eyes didn't follow the words but he was looking at the bigger picture of it all. Lillard was actually enjoying this. As crazy as it was for a stranger to request this he stayed around for him. Once he finished he glanced at Dewwy then the floor.
"Uh.. that was it so.." He rubbed the back of his neck. "You read wonderfully.. heh thank you.. maybe there truly is kindness left for people like me. Till we meet again.." Lillard saw as the man slowly was walking away with a cane he didn't seem to notice until now. He was already too late when the words slipped from his mouth, "wait- ...I didn't get your.. name..."
There he was, left alone, looking at where he exited. He felt a weird sense of feelings wash over him. Who was that? Why was he here if he couldn't read? Or could he? It was so surreal he wasn't sure if it even actually happened. Is he really that lonely he hallucinated it all?...
"Whatever.." He mumbles to himself shaking his head.
Lillard collects himself before heading out of the Archival. He took his hearing aids out of his ear just in case he runs into anyone. He didn't want to hear what they would say. The whispering or remarks made as he passed. Hell the glances said it all so hearing wasn't necessary. Lucky for him, he made it home with no trouble today.
Once in bed all he could think of was what happened at the Archival. He was remembering every last detail of him. His long green hair.. and how the tips were a bright orange.. his dark skin.. frail body in a cream colored robe... and an odd yellow poncho... how his eyes were glossed over and that smile... he might of just looked through him but that smile never could. Drifting off to sleep he had a smile of his own.
'Till we meet again huh? Looking forward to it.'
