You couldn't help but admire him from the doorway. The morning sun hit his plating in a way that made the field of flowers reflect off of him. It was like he was covered in them. Your mind drifted to the previous day and the flowers you had both laid in, all afternoon. It had drifted so far that you hadn't noticed the screen door slip from your fingers, causing it to slam loudly as it swung back and hit the wooden frame. You jumped as it made a loud snap sound. He flinched and his eyes opened, slowly glancing to you as he spoke.
"Good morning, Doroth-oh." You saw his face seem to light up as he realized it was you. A pack of butterflies were let lose in your stomach when you met his gaze and for some reason you felt the need to come up with an excuse for being outside. Your hand, as if moving on its own, robotically waved at the mech. You couldn't get your voice to work so breaking eye contact, you started to walk to the truck. The car door clicked as you opened it and you racked your brain, trying to come up with an excuse to go back inside.
You grabbed the complimentary coffee mug that you had left in the cup holder, since you didn't really need it, thanking your past self as you held it and headed back towards the house. You hadn't had coffee since you entered this universe and whether you liked it or not didn't matter since now you had an excuse to wait for Dorothy inside and you got to avoid your problems, at least for now.
"You drink that stuff?" Megatron's gruff voice startled you and you whipped your head around to look at him.
"I-I had a hard time sleeping, gotta find a way to keep me awake." You half-heartedly admitted. A look of guilt flashed across his face, and you thrummed your fingers on the cup to keep your hands occupied so they wouldn't reach out to comfort him. Against your nature you continued on your way back to the house. Until you were air born.
You let out a "Hey!" as it dawned on you that you were being picked up. You grunted and raised your voice.
"Do you mind?" Your voice was shaky as you adjusted your body, so you were sitting down in the middle of his hand and not unstable and wiggling around. You saw the ghost of a smile disappear from his face as he set you down on the roof of the barn. A wave of disbelief hit you and you crossed your arms and let the mask of indifference fall as contempt took its place. You still had to crane your neck to look up at him and you felt your eyes narrow as you met his own.
"You can't just grab me like that! It's rude." You let out a huff and steadied yourself on the wooden roof. You had dropped your mug on the ground in the surprise of being lifted up so now you didn't have anything to occupy your hands. You settled for crossing your arms, making sure you couldn't reach out like you had in the meadow.
"I apologize." He said in a low voice. You could sense he was being genuine but that didn't make you any less frustrated.
"I wanted to also apologize for yesterday. I shouldn't have gotten upset with Hashtag. She's just doing what she thinks is right." He sighed and looked away from you.
Your mind almost short circuited. It was driving you mad watching the mech go from completely ignoring your existence to apologizing for something you weren't even mad about anymore. Your brow knitted together as a rush of complicated emotions poured into every atom of your being. On one hand this extraterrestrial mecha man was intimidating in every way possible except for right now. His eyes were wide with hope that you would forgive him, you could still see it even as he looked away. Lucky for him, you already had forgiven him. You were more upset with the fact that he yelled at Hashtag, you couldn't care less about what or who watched over Starscream at this point.
You sighed and tried to come up with the words.
"I'm not even mad anymore. I was just...overwhelmed with everything and everyone yelling at each other, and it was my first time driving with Hashtag, and she does NOT follow traffic laws, and-" You took a deep breath "I'm sorry." You slowly sat down, feeling the dam that held in your emotions starting to crack. The day before had been overwhelming for you in more than one single way, from Megatron's attitude towards you changing like the flip side of a coin, to having to comfort Hashtag as she explained how someone she cares about was being targeted by someone you've grown to care about. It was almost too much to deal with but somehow you still felt ease when your eyes drifted to the gray mech. He was your own special form of Xanax, and you felt your whole being calm down when he held out his hand for you to lean on.
