"What is wrong?" He asked as he knelt down, almost meeting you at your level. You moved over so he could look and see what had distressed you in the trailer. In any other scenario you would have been beside yourself and a blushing mess, but your annoyance trumped anything else.
"I can't fu-," You caught yourself. "I can't win." Your voice was the harshest it had been while talking to him but if he felt like it was directed at him, he didn't tell you.
"I-I'm sorry. This is just the cherry on the cake and all I wanted to do today was make my new place look nice and fix it all up, but now this just ruined all my motivation." You let out another groan as you rubbed circles on your forehead.
"There's no need to apologize." Megatron's voice was uncharacteristically gentle with you. It reminded you of how he talked to you the night before. You stole a glance at him not expecting him to be looking right back at you.
"Well there go my plans for today." You muttered and shrugged.
"You're really going to let this ruin your day?" His voice held a playfulness to it.
"Yes, Yes I am." You stood firm on your stance. He was so close you could feel the small reverberations of his chuckle as he continued to sneak glances at you. However, you never in a million years expected him to lower his hand to the ground and offer it to you.
"Well if you're free, there's a place I go to every once in a while, to clear my head. It's not too far from here."
You had been carried before; hell, you had been carried by him before, but somehow this felt different. It wasn't out of necessity nor was he catching you, instead the completely voluntary action made your mind run wild with questions.
"Okay..." You shut the tailgate before you turned and looked at his open hand laying in the grass. It looked softer than the rest of him. You blushed as you grabbed his thumb to steady yourself and climbed into his waiting hand, kneeling in the middle of his palm and bracing yourself for the feeling of being in the air. He slowly stood up once he was sure you would be safe. You kept a constant hold on his digits as he started to take a few steps. You started to understand why Dorothy always hitched a ride on his shoulder. You felt like a doll in his grasp.
Your hands were tiny in comparison to his fingers. It felt like sparks would emit from your fingertips every time you moved your hand over one of his digits to re-steady yourself. He kept you close to his chest as he walked. You figured it was an easy way to make sure his hand stayed steady for you. It was relieving in a way. You were tempted to lean you head back but you knew you weren't brave enough for that yet. You did notice a constant humming coming from his insignia. You knew from what you had researched on your own and from what the kids had told you that Cybertronians had things called "sparks" instead of hearts. You wondered if that's what that rhythmic mechanical pulsing was.
With each step he took further into the forest, the deeper you sat in thought. The questions in your mind threatened to leave your throat every time you would feel his hand grow tighter around you. His thumb had instinctively pressed against your back and it felt like you were kneeling in an overgrown car seat. You had to give props to your fellow humans that could do this every day. It took immense amounts of trust, like the trust you were putting into Megatron to not drop you.
After what seemed like an eternity of walking (in reality was maybe 20 minutes) a meadow appeared in front of you. A gasp left your lips as you took in the beautiful view. There were hundreds if not thousands of wildflowers in full bloom. A small pond sat in the middle of the grassy landscape, and you watched as birds swooped in and out of the trees fishing for worms and bugs.
Megatron slowly knelt and lowered you to the ground, he offered you his other hand so you could step out without falling over. You thanked him but didn't hear a response since your attention had been stolen by the valley of fauna. The smell of grass and floral scents rendered your other senses useless as you took a few quick steps out towards the open area where the canopy of trees gave way to the soft sunlight. The warm rays on your skin made you feel like you were glowing. If there was any human experience it would be this, grass up to your mid-calf, ladybugs and bumblebees flying around, collecting pollen. You listened for the bird's song and could hear the soft notes. The sound repeated itself over and over until another took its place.
