After hours of researching, that was the most probable reason he felt so attached to you. He checked all the boxes from the feeling of sparks every time he touched you, to the nagging voice in his processor that caused him to feel an almost "possessiveness" over you. He had tried to keep it in check, but he knew the only thing that would make it stop completely was your rejection. In everything he read most alien lifeforms didn't have the same kind of wavelengths to feel the bond one could share with a Cybertronian, but he suspected humans were different based on what Dorothy had told him. He knew about your "crush". Dorothy had told him how flustered he had made you feel. How you weren't avoiding him because you didn't like him but on the contrary.
It was a foreign concept to him, to avoid the object of your affections. He still couldn't fully understand the "cat and mouse" game Dot had described to him. You, being the cat and him, the mouse. He knew you wouldn't understand if he completely shattered his glass walls to show you how he really felt but he hated coming up with some stupid idea to deceive you. It was Dorothy's idea for him to protect you from his ex-second in command. His idea was to just have you come back to the farmhouse, he could be there on watch until they caught Starscream, but instead Dorothy explained to him the importance for humans that are fully grown to live on their own. He was told it "Built character" but he wasn't so sure. Humans were pack animals; they were supposed to stick together.
Maybe he was looking at it too narrowly though. He saw how you had jumped at helping your new community today. He saw you were tired and exhausted from the night before, in his experience herding any group of Malto children was difficult enough let alone when you were on your own. But they listened to you, more so than the poor scout even. It was impressive in his eyes. And yet you still helped your community with clean up. You were one of the last ones to leave. It did nothing to stop his growing fondness of you. You were nothing like any human he had ever met and maybe that had to do with the fact you were from a different dimension, but maybe it was just the way you were.
A contented ex-vent left his form as he watched you wake from your short sleep.
He watched as your eyes shifted from dazed, to aware. It was such a subtle change in a human's features and yet he could instantly tell when it was you.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I must've been more tired than I thought." You apologized profusely before Megatron could tell you, you were fine, and he held no offence from it. You felt the embarrassment on your cheeks, but you couldn't stop yourself from letting out a yawn.
"I-I should probably go to bed." You stood up on shaky legs and shivered as the warm blanket fell from your lap. You felt goosebumps form on your legs as you grabbed your cup that was hot but was now almost ice cold and slowly headed into your warm apartment.
"Goodnight." You heard Megatron's voice dripping with sincerity. It shook you to your bones to turn around.
"Goodnight, to you too." You waved before you walked in and shut your screen door. If anything happened in the night you wanted to be able to hear it, so you kept the main door open. Totally not because it made you feel closer to Megatron.
You started to walk to your back room, but as if a string wanted to keep you closer to the door, you made up your couch as comfy as it could be, it took you a while to finally pass out. Your mind was stuck on the robot that was only feet away from you, the only thing keeping you apart was the brick wall to your right. You don't remember when your eyes finally closed and you drifted off to sleep, but part of you wished you hadn't. You would start to have the same dream every time you started to fall asleep and then something would wake you up. You would check and see that only a few hours had passed after every dream.
Soon, you could see the sun get higher and higher in the sky and groggily, you shuffled off the couch and made your way to your bathroom to clean yourself up and get ready for the day. You did what you needed to in the bathroom and then walked to your bedroom and looked for an outfit that would be comfy but wouldn't look like your laundry basket threw up on you. You settled on a casual T-shirt and a grayish-blue pair of jean shorts. The scars on your legs and arms had finally faded into a light pink almost white, even the most stubborn one had settled into a less intense red.
