You were going to message him apologizing and letting him know that Mo had sent that, not you. But then you thought, would he even believe that? Did he even care all that much? You knew he would have responded something lighthearted to Mo if she had sent that to him under her own name so maybe he would assume she had taken your phone. A small sigh left your lips as you figured you would just have to explain yourself if and when he asked you about it later that day. Even if you died of embarrassment.
The sun rays that made their way through your balcony curtains made you hopeful for a good and relaxing day but as you pushed the flowing linins aside you saw the town had been wreaked havoc from the storm. There were branches all over the roads and trash and debris covered the lawn of the park in the middle of town where you could see a small group of children and younger teens start to bag up the mess.
You turned and looked around your space, all boxed up with a clear path of walking room that trailed the place. This could wait. Your mess would be here for you, waiting as long as you needed it to. You searched around in your cleaning supplies that were set aside from your groceries and found the box of heavy-duty trash bags you were now super glad you didn't pass up for the regular household type.
'No better way to make new friends with my new neighbors then cleaning up their yards.' You thought to yourself as you opened the balcony's sliding door. There were a few branches that had made their way onto the small stoop and leaves covered the wooden floor. The warmth of the sun lulled you into closing your eyes and enjoying the soft late-summer breeze. It smelt like freshly dewed grass and sundried wood. A voice startled you out of your relaxation.
"Enjoying your morning, I see." You let out a scared yelp and turned to see Megatron leaning up against your building. Your mind raced wondering how long he had been standing there. Had he been watching you? Why didn't he say anything? You slowed your rapidly pounding heart and cleared your throat.
You stubbled over your words and every ounce of effort that was put into shoving any feelings you had for him threatened to burst out of your chest. You shook your head and hoped he would just think you were weird.
"Y-yeah, it's way nicer out today." You turned your head away from him and propped your back up to the furthest wooden railing from the mech. You averted your eyes and picked nervously at your nails to calm your mind. The awkward silence made you want to melt into a puddle and drip through the cracks in the deck. You crossed your arms and turned your head towards the park, where you watched the same group of kids trying to move a large branch into a pile they had already been making. They seemed to be having a fun time, laughing and joking with each other. It warmed your heart to see the whole community come together after such a bad storm.
"Did you sleep well?" His question sounded forced. You wanted to tell him no just to see what he'd say but instead you just nodded your head and muttered "Yeah." You could cut the awkward tension with a knife. Your jaw clenched as you felt your face flush with embarrassment. You thought you heard a click and whirling sound coming from Megatron, but your body wouldn't allow yourself to look at the mech. You figured the tension would leave when Dorothy showed up, but even as her truck slowly made its way in front of your building and the woman stepped out of the vehicle the realization that you were about to be alone with Megatron only made you want to crawl inside a hole and stay there until you died.
She called up to you two. Megatron knelt down and slowly lifted her onto your level. She immediately rushed to you and engulfed you in a hug but small pitter patters of children's footsteps caught all three of yours's attention. Mo and Robbie both peaked out of the open doorway.
"Hi mom..." they both said sheepishly. Dorothy started to scold them but the looks on their faces made your heart start to sink. The guilt you felt threatened to pour out of you if you didn't explain you felt responsible for them running off in the first place but before you could even start Dorothy turned to you.
