"What makes you think he doesn't?" She asked you.
"Well for starters, he hasn't had a single conversation with me and for a while every time he looked at me it would turn into a glare, and then he would turn away. I haven't had many crushes in my life but when I like someone, I don't glare at them. In fact, I don't think that has to do with whether I have a crush on someone or not." You stopped yourself from going on a long-winded rant about your feelings and Megatron's lack thereof. Before the couple could say anything else the waitress came back with your drinks and ready to take your order. The couple ordered first, and you choose the lightest thing you could stomach when your turn came around.
Your waitress nodded and walked back to her station to put the order in. The three of you sat in an uncomfortable silence for a while before Dorothy broke it.
"Well, if it means anything, he asks how you're doing almost on the daily. He's never been good at expressing his emotions so all I ask as his friend is to give him the chance to know you." You looked into Dorothy's kind eyes and felt her pure intent.
"He asks about me?" You felt a heat crawl up your face but you didn't feel the need to hide it.
"I can't speak for him...but I can say I think he cares about your wellbeing." Dorothy tapped your hand.
You just sighed and after a moment of silence the conversation shifted to a more mundane topic of when you would start moving and who would help. You tried not to think of the warm feeling you had in your chest, but it felt nice to talk about how you were feeling without being made out to be a crazy person.
The food was phenomenal, and it helped in lifting your mood. Once the three of you were done eating you went back to the farmhouse where Dorothy had left you to pack up your few belongings while she wrangled up Mo to go furniture shopping. The kids were all bittersweet about you getting your own place and you figured it was because they were used to having an extra older sibling. Mo and Robbie were the ones most excited for you and while Nightshade, Twitch, and Thrash would miss you, you knew they would be ok. Hashtag and Jawbreaker, however, were devastated by the news. You tried to explain to them that you would still come around and that you would only be a few miles away if they needed anything, yet they were still dramatic about your move. You even promised you would come over every few days for dinner and to see them.
You felt a tug in your heart to know there were people who wanted to see you every day so much to the point that Bumblebee had to keep them busy from unloading Dorothy's truck in an attempt to keep you there longer. You had convinced Dorothy to not give the two a lecture for it mainly because you felt bad for them. They were very young, and you felt you had a special connection with the triplets since you all entered the world on the same day. They were given a way to connect with the family in a way you couldn't, yet you never felt like they saw you any less than an older sibling.
After throwing the last bag of items into the back of the truck that you would be taking with you, Mo and Dorothy strolled over to the truck. You three would go and drop this off at your place and then Dorothy would be taking you out to look for furniture. You felt a jolt of excitement rush through you. It was something you hadn't even felt when you had moved out for your first time.
You thought back to when you had said goodbye to your parents and how you had felt relief then, instead of sadness. Sometimes you would lie awake at night and wonder what they were doing. For the first few months you would try and stay in touch but after you had tried to go home for Christmas only to find out they had gone abroad without telling you, you stopped. You thought your mom would reach out after a month of no contact but after almost a whole year of no messages or calls, you assumed you had given them the greatest gift of disappearing from their lives. Sometimes when people would ask you, you would say they had died or were drug addicts in prison somewhere, or even would say they left you on the doorstep of whoever you could think of. Most of the times it was a made-up aunt that you would say had passed.
To your knowledge neither of your parents even had siblings. Sometimes you would even think about changing your last name. If you ever made it back to your real world you would change it to Malto.
Before you knew it you were in front of your new apartment.
"This place looks really cute!" Mo said from the back of the truck. She had a huge smile plastered on her face that was starting to be contagious. You smiled back at her, getting out of the truck and going to unlock the door that led up to your place. The stairway on the side of the building was narrow but you were confident you would be able to get your future things through. It was simple enough for the three of you to haul in your smaller thigs and the desk that Dorothy and Alex had let you keep.
"You ready to go shopping now?" Dorothy surprised you. She stood in the doorway with her back to the frame watching you look at the place start to be filled will small bags and boxes. You let out a sigh with a growing smile on your face and nodded, walking back to the truck and excited to see what the little town had to offer.
